The University depends upon UEC to provide services that cannot be supported with state funds. We’re responsible for business enterprises on campus including, but not limited to, dining, bookstore, convenience store, and vending services. We also serve as the grantee for federal, state, and local funding for research and sponsored projects.Position SummaryTemporary, Part Time, Non-Benefited position through 12/31/2024 (Appointment may be renewed annually based upon availability of funds, availability of work and satisfactory job performance).Salary:

$25.00-$35.00 per hour.Location:

Palm Desert.Work ScheduleUp to 19 hours per week. Typically, Monday-Friday within the hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm though some nights, weekend work may be required.First Review DeadlineThis position will remain open until filled.Typical ActivitiesUnder minimal supervision of the CVWBC Director, the Business Counselor will work independently to:Generalist:Feasibility and Business ModelingBusiness PlanningBreakeven and Pro Forma analysisIndustry Specific:Retail and MerchandisingFood and CateringMakers and Product DevelopmentTourismProduct Development and Service Design:Manufacturing or Assembly ProcessMarket & Customers:Market ResearchIndustry SizingTarget MarketMarketing MixStrategy and TacticsDigital advertisingCosts: COGS/COSS, Fixed Costs and Start Up CostsProjections: Revenue, Break Even and ProfitStatements: Profit and Loss, Cash Flow and Balance SheetsDebt and Equity:Owner’s InvestmentSBA loansMicroloansTravel as required to perform cross county-wide job functions.Minimum QualificationsEducation & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field is preferred; or equivalent experience in business management; or equivalent experience in financial analysis;or Bachelor’s degree in any field with either two years of business management or business ownership.

Other:

Be able to offer consulting expertise in 1 or more areas in business management items 1-9. Current or past small business owner.
