Director of Supply Chain Management

The Director of Supply Chain Management will be responsible for recommending improvements to all purchasing, inventory, planning, and logistics for a major supplier of electronic assemblies to the defense industry.

One of the primary responsibilities of this position is to develop and implement cost reduction opportunities, specifically as it relates to the supply chain. Strong emphasis will be on creating procurement metrics, implementing purchasing policies and best practices throughout the organization while coordinating business relationships and agreements with major suppliers.

Responsibilities:

Provide critical assessment of operational supply chain performance, workflow analyses and processes.

Develop and institutionalize a global procurement strategy.

Work proactively to solicit ongoing coordination and cooperation in driving cost out of the Supply Chain.

Plan and effectively manage resources through cross-functional processes.

Coordinate logistics agreements with major suppliers.

Maximize delivery cycles from the supply base.

Evaluate time to market capabilities and strategically align purchasing and inventory practices to accommodate sales/customer needs.

Establish/Define a Supplier Performance Program to gauge performance of various cost, quantity, and delivery capabilities of major suppliers.

Establish/Define Supplier Qualification procedures for identifying and qualifying resources for new or existing material and service needs.

Negotiate vendor agreements.

Manage manufacturing and MRO inventories.

Education & Experience Required:

Skilled in negotiations, supplier selection and the development, approval and control of purchases in a decentralized environment.

Especially skilled in production planning and inventory management.

Strategic planning experience as it relates to supplier relations, sourcing and production planning.

Proven experience in logistics, material management systems, e-commerce and strategic sourcing.

Logistics and warehousing experience.

5+ years supply chain management in an electronics manufacturing environment.

EMS or defense electronics preferred.

Experienced implementing ERP systems helpful.

Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA, CPIM or CPM a plus.
