Harvard Library (HL) Open Scholarship and Research Data Services (OSRDS) is actively seeking a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative individual to join its team. This role involves promoting and advancing department services and programs through outreach and engagement within and beyond Harvard Library. The successful candidate will be responsible for communicating and promoting OSRDS services, developing, coordinating, and supporting OSRDS projects and programs, as well as building collaborations and partnerships with various stakeholders on campus.
Reporting directly to the Director of OSRDS, this position is instrumental in developing collaboration and fostering partnerships between OSRDS and diverse stakeholders. Key responsibilities include engaging with campus stakeholders in OSRDS services, coordinating and supporting OSRDS initiatives and projects, and organizing events and workshops to promote OSRDS services, open access, open data, open education and open infrastructure.
As part of Open Scholarship and Research Data Services, the incumbent will be at the forefront of advancing open knowledge. We are dedicated to supporting Harvard Library’s aspirations on behalf of researchers to be global leaders in expanding world knowledge and intellectual exploration. This commitment involves the creation, promotion, and support of new and existing models for sharing research outputs, including both publications and data.
Position Description
Community Outreach and Engagement: Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage with professional school libraries, FAS libraries, academic units, faculty, researchers, and students interested in open scholarship and research data services. Cultivate partnerships and collaborations that enhance the visibility and impact of OSRDS services and initiatives. Project Management and Coordination: Support the planning, execution, and evaluation of OSRDS projects, programs, and initiatives. Coordinate project timelines, resources, and deliverables to ensure successful implementation. Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement solutions. Communication and Collaboration: Facilitate effective communication and collaboration within OSRDS, library, and campus partners. Organize and coordinate workshops, events, and outreach activities to promote open scholarship and research data services across the campus. Manage and develop the website and promotional resources for OSRDS services. Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect, analyze, and report data related to outreach and engagement efforts in the context of open scholarship and research data services. Prepare comprehensive reports on project outcomes, community impact, and recommendations for improvement. Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic plans for open scholarship and research data services. Collaborate with team members to identify opportunities for growth and improved service delivery. Basic Qualifications BA/BS 3 years of experience in open access, open data, and scholarly communication. Proven experience in outreach, community engagement, and project management, particularly in the context of academic research libraries. Additional Qualifications and Skills Master’s degree in library science, Information Science, or a related field. Demonstrated knowledge of current trends and issues in open scholarship and science, open access, open data, and scholarly communication. Demonstrated knowledge of current trends in the university research environment and research data needs. Experience in collaborating effectively with diverse stakeholders, including librarians, researchers, faculty, and external partners. Commitment to supporting efforts to foster diversity and inclusion in library, university, and professional contexts. Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment.
