About this role
The Search Experience team is responsible for building search systems that connect our learners to the best matching learning content for their needs. The team designs user experiences that unlock the breadth and depth of the diverse set of learning content available to learners in Udemy. The Search Experience team works with a data-driven culture, formed of Data Scientists building machine learning algorithms, and microservice-based architectures to implement Machine Learning and Large Language Model (LLM) solutions to provide the best value to our learners. They follow a strict A/B experimentation-based approach with smaller MVPs to best tailor the designed experience.
As part of this dynamic team, you will be responsible for working with Product Managers, User Experience Designers, and Data Scientists to implement the best user experience that connects with ML and LLM reinforced search systems. Although the main responsibility of the role is focused on the implementation of the front-end, we expect you to be able to support backend solutions, monitoring, and observability of the user experience end-to-end.

Work closely with Product, Design, and Data Science/Analytics partners to ensure our products effectively solve customer problems and meet business objectives.
Incorporate Experiment-Driven development in your daily work to improve the overall customer journey.
Participate in daily standup team meetings, bi-weekly sprint planning & sprint-end demo/retrospective, and work cross-functionally with other teams to drive product innovation.
What you’ll have
4+ years of front-end engineering experience (full-stack engineering preferred).
Expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript.
Advanced understanding of React, including React Hooks & Functional Components (or equivalent front-end frameworks).
Experience designing scalable, secure, and performant APIs (REST/GraphQL/gRPC).
Willingness to learn and operate across the stack with Front End and Web Performance focuses.
Experience working with medium-sized agile development teams.
Ability to lead large efforts involving multiple stakeholders.
Well organized, disciplined, and able to manage time and priorities effectively.
We understand that not everyone will match each of the above qualifications. However, we also realize that everyone has unique experiences that can add value to our company. Even if you think your background might not perfectly align, we'd love to hear from you!
