About RayzeBioRayzeBio is a dynamic biotechnology company headquartered in San Diego, CA. Launched in late 2020 and recently acquired by Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) as a wholly owned subsidiary, the company is focused on improving survival of people with cancer by harnessing the power of targeted radioisotopes. RayzeBio will operate as a standalone entity within the BMS organization, maintaining its biotech culture with the opportunity to leverage the best-in-class oncology capabilities of BMS. RayzeBio is developing innovative drugs against targets of solid tumors. The lead asset, RYZ101, is in Phase 3 testing for patients with gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs), as well as earlier stage testing for patients with small cell lung cancer (SCLC). Position OverviewThe laboratory-based role offers an opportunity to help bridge laboratory research with clinical applications to advance novel Radiopharmaceutical Oncology therapies. As a translational scientist, you will develop and execute in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo models that recapitulate human cancer biology to identify tumor indications, test rational therapeutic combinations, and understand mechanisms of radio-resistance. The ideal candidate will be a critical thinker and a technical problem solver who enjoys working in interdisciplinary team settings. The role requires an ability and willingness to work with radioactive isotopes.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, optimize and utilize preclinical in vitro and in vivo models that mimic human cancer biology to evaluate drug efficacy, mechanism of action, and resistance mechanisms.Help develop and run cell- and tumor-based assays to support rational combination strategies, identification of mechanisms of resistance to RPT agents, selection of lead tumor indications, and identification of potential biomarkers that predict patient response to therapies.Work with radioactivity in various assays in strict adherence to the radiation safety protocols.Work under the guidance of project team leaders to support the overall translational plan; work closely with biology, chemistry, DMPK, imaging and in vivo teams to ensure appropriate prioritization of experiments.Generate, organize, and maintain meticulous records on all conducted experiments. Independently analyze and interpret data and present experimental plans and results at project team meetings, group meetings, and company meetings.Actively contribute to the experimental design and planning efforts to help achieve project goals under tight timelines.Collaborate with colleagues in other functional areas including biology and chemistry.Assist in laboratory operation management duties.Education & Experience:

BS with 4+ years of experience or MS 2+ years of experience within Cancer Biology, Molecular/Cell biology, Pharmacology, or a related discipline with hands-on laboratory experience.Hands-on expertise with human tumor-based assays and cell-based instruments (e.g. IncuCyte and Flow Cytometers) are required.Prior experience of working on drug discovery projects in an industrial setting is highly desirable.Skills:

Ability to work with radioisotopes with strict adherence to radiation safety protocols.Ability to execute experiments, including preclinical model development (e.g., cell lines, animal models, patient-derived models), to investigate disease mechanisms and evaluate therapeutic interventions.Familiarity and hands on experience with in vitro, cell-based assay development and optimization and proficiency with cell culture, molecular biology techniques, ELISA, flow-cytometry, western blot, qPCR, immunohistochemistry and related protocols.Creativity and adaptability to explore new research methodologies, technologies, and approaches that enhance translational research outcomes.Familiarity with drug development process and interfacing and working with interdisciplinary teams.Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment.Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.Proficiency in data analysis techniques, including statistical methods.Compensation:The starting compensation for this job is a range from $92,601-$125,285, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility). The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and where the job is performed. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
