Description:

St. Josaphat Parish in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago, IL, is looking for someone who is passionate about, skilled and equipped to evangelize within and outside of the parish, with a focus on welcoming, hospitality and adult faith formation. Will accompany our strong existing Hands of Mercy (outreach) and Family Faith Formation efforts.The St. Josaphat parishioner community is about 1,000 families, and there are 465 students from PK3 - 8th Grade in St. Josaphat School. An average of about 400 people attend either the Saturday 5pm, Sunday 8am or Sunday 10am Masses. The church and school employ about 85 people.Reports To:

PastorEssential Job Functions:

Collaborate with the Pastor and staff on the parish vision: bringing people into closer relationship with Jesus Christ and the Catholic faith by sharing the Good News through prayer, evangelization, service, liturgy and the sacraments.Focus on expanding Evangelization and Adult Faith Formation: Oversee and coordinate existing programs at the parish, such as Alpha and the annual parish retreat. Plan and manage new events and programs. Assist with faith formation of Parish and School staff.Form a team for radical hospitality, particularly for welcoming new families.Coordinate efforts to engage School families.Supervise and accompany other ministry leaders, including but not limited to, Liturgy Committee and Hands of Mercy (Outreach). Help them prioritize where to focus our talent and treasure.Supervise or partner with staff responsible for RCIA, Sacramental prep, Family Faith Formation.Serve on the Senior Leadership Team, including weekly meetings, in support of the Pastor and staff. Collaborate with the Pastor and Director of Finance to develop an annual budget for the pastoral ministries.Ensure that staff and volunteers comply with the guidelines for Protecting God’s Children through management of the Virtus program.Direct special projects or ministries as requested by Pastor.Requirements:

Experience in a parish that demonstrates ability to engage parishioners and non-parishioners in the process of evangelization and community building.Developed skills in leadership and management; strong commitment to collaboration and teamwork with clergy, staff, parish leaders and volunteers.Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.Self-motivated, detail-oriented, collaborative, faithful, joyful witness, persistent, available, fair and balanced, dependable, person of integrity, sensitive to cultural, racial and ethnic diversity and openness to the needs of the parishioners.Ability to deal with multiple projects, flexible, sound judgment and comfortable with change.Ability to work evenings and weekends.Preferred Job Skills and Experience:

Master’s Degree in Pastoral Studies, Theology, Faith Formation or equivalent.Three or more years as part of a parish staff.Practicing Catholic with understanding and support for Catholic Church teaching, mission and values.Familiarity with technology used for communicating and presenting.Application Instructions:
