NG- Military Internship Program Description:
The Northrop Grumman Military Internship Program (NG-MIP) is an approved SkillBridge Program under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. The NG-MIP program is an opportunity for transitioning service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through an individual internship during their last 6 months of service, for up to 180 days. The Northrop Grumman Military Internship Program is open to all ranks and experience levels.
Responsibilities for this internship position are:
Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) has developed the Northrop Grumman – Military Internship Program (DoD SkillBridge) utilizing the DoDI guidance for SkillBridge. During this program the service member will be on-site at his or her host company performing an individual internship in an entry to mid-level career type role. The service member will be on the job training supporting a work schedule equivalent to 40hrs per week.
Goals
– Provide transitioning service members fellowship-style job skills training during the last portion(s) of their military commitment. This program is specifically designed to offer internships that result in the potential to transition to a full-time opportunity as the conclusion of the training.
Objectives
- Service Members who complete the Intern program will be highly-trained, capable, future employees that align to the specific needs of the organization and are prepared to meet the NG mission “Defining Possible” on Day 1.
Outcome
– Offer transitioning service members a rewarding opportunity to join the Northrop Grumman team.
DoD SkillBridge Eligibility:
Has served at least 180 days on active duty
Is within 12 months of separation or retirement
Will receive an honorable discharge
Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS
Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship.
Position Summary:
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a
RF Engineer / Principal RF Engineer
to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future. This position will be located in either
Rancho Bernardo, CA or Melbourne, FL.
**This position may be filled by either an RF Engineer level or a Principal RF Engineer level based on the qualifications listed.
The candidate will be expected to thoroughly understand all system requirements, specifications, and interface control documents, prepare, monitor, and update program schedules, conduct and participate in all related design reviews, and provide technical guidance to the cross-functional team.
Essential Functions:
RF design and analysis of avionics used on military aircraft
Gathering of data, requirements development, interfacing with suppliers and briefing customer
Acting as manufacturing liaison during build process of your project to ensure overall quality, delivery, and cost objectives are achieved
Support integration of avionics on military aircraft
Basic knowledge of design and analysis tools for RF design
Basic Qualifications:
For – RF Engineer (T02):
Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of experience OR Master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 0 years of experience for T02.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret or higher security clearance
Ability to obtain and maintain additional Special Access Program (SAP) access
For – Principal RF Engineer (T03):
Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience OR Master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 3 years of experience OR 0 years’ experience with PhD for T03.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret or higher security clearance
Ability to obtain and maintain additional Special Access Program (SAP) access
Preferred Qualifications:
Current, active in-scope DoD Secret or higher security clearance
Proficiency with Matlab, Simulink, HFSS, STK, EMIT
Familiarity with DOORS or CAMEO
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
Ability to lead fellow engineers on technical efforts
Experience performing functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Salary Range:
$87,200 - $130,800
Salary Range 2:
$107,000 - $160,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
