within Friendship serves a critical function across a broad range of responsibilities. The SPM is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administrative operations of the specialty division within the practice while also championing the values of the organization which help to build positive team morale.The SPM is looked to as a role model within the practice and must lead with integrity, pride, and professionalism. They must establish and maintain sound business practices at hospital level while also effectively collaborating and coordinating efforts with other members of the Leadership Team—including the Specialty Medical Director, the Emergency Practice Manager, the Primary Care Practice Manager, the Emergency and Critical Care Medical Director, the Primary Care Medical Director, and other members of the management team.Together, the SPM and Specialty Medical Director (SMD) uphold the highest standards for maintaining the Specialty division of Friendship Hospital for Animals and effectively deliver through daily operations and team support. The SPM supports a growing number of specialists and their teams. There are currently 32 doctors within the specialty division of Friendship with over 120 team members across 15 different specialties with more onboarding as we expand the hospital.The broad functions of the SPM role include employee engagement and retention, planning and executing a positive pet owner experience, maintaining ideal inventory levels, regulatory compliance, practice reputation management, financial analysis, practice planning and others within the specialty division of Friendship. The SPM must also be a courageous leader who embraces change and continually challenges the team to improve the pet owner experience, which in turn helps the practice achieve success.
CORE FUNCTIONS
Cultivate an environment which provides an outstanding pet owner experience so that clients feel comfortable and confident in the hospital.Establish and maintain sound administrative operations; train staff as needed in process workflows and ensure clarity of expectations.Focus upon continual improvement including increasing client satisfaction levels and streamlining workflows within the specialty division.Interface and collaborate as needed with internal colleagues including staff members, Medical Directors, other PMs, and Doctors; proactively schedule meetings as necessary.Engage with staff members regularly; develop and execute plans to ensure their ongoing development and drive retention of high performers.Proactively address staff performance issues while seeking to coach them to a positive outcome; partner with HR as needed.Make focus upon meeting or exceeding financial goals for the practice; pivot as needed to enhance client service and improve results.Partner cross-functionally as needed with HR, Finance and other departments to support items such as: payroll processing, recruitment, benefits administration and others.Embrace professional development opportunities including attending leadership meetings and translating that learning at hospital level.Oversee inventory management system within Specialty including healthy product turnover and fee assessment.Oversee the maintenance of controlled substance, anesthesia, surgery, radiology and laboratory logs as required by state and federal regulations within the Specialty division.Perform other duties as needed and which make a positive impact on the practice.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE-to be considered for this role you will need
5+ years of leading multidisciplinary specialty veterinary medicine required.Must have comfort working in an environment with animals and sensitivity to the needs of pet owners.Outstanding customer service skills with the ability to introduce and role model strong service standards for all types of client interactions.Proficient computer and software skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, and other office management systems and software.Proven track record of organization and ability to lead administrative workflows.Ability to develop and lead initiatives for the specialty division of hospital.Ability to collaborate with the other divisions within the hospital to execute organization wide decisions.Must show a commitment to professional development and continual improvement.Inspirational leadership characteristics; proven ability to coach and enable team development.Dynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholders at all levels.Demonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail.High school diploma or equivalent required.AS or BS degree in business or other relevant field of study preferred.CVPM certification or MBA highly desirable.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Frequent work at a computer for 90-100% of the time.Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch as well as manipulate (lift, carry and move) up to 15 pounds.
