We are now accepting applications for a full-time Assistant Corporation Counsel. As Assistant Corporation Counsel, your role will be the preparation and trial of civil cases in the areas of guardianship/protective placement, mental and alcohol commitments under Ch. 51, juvenile, child support/paternity, zoning, and other civil legal matters. The position also provides legal services to various County Departments, Committees, and the County Board, under the direction and/or in the absence of the Corporation Counsel.Qualifications:
Licensed to practice law in the State of Wisconsin. One year of legal experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities to assist with learning these practice areas will be preferred. Newly licensed attorneys with the willingness to engage in diverse practices are encouraged to apply. Satisfactory completion of a thorough background check including license check with the Wisconsin State Board is required. Due to employee access to federal tax information, employees will be fingerprinted at the time of hire and every five years thereafter. Fingerprints will be submitted to the Wisconsin Department of Justice for State of Wisconsin and FBI criminal conviction database queries. Unfavorable adjudication will result in termination from employment. Experience in investigation and interviewing is desirable.Compensation and Benefits:
