Senior Estimator

POSITION SUMMARY:The Senior Estimator oversees estimating for heavy civil construction projects, managing bid preparation and leading a team of estimators. The role includes handling 25-50 estimates annually, with values ranging from $5M to $100M, while coordinating with clients, project teams, and subcontractors to ensure accurate bids and successful project proposals.RESPONSIBILITIES:Manage bid preparation, pricing, and scheduling, incorporating historical data and quotes.Provide conceptual budgets, finalize estimates, and offer technical support on bids.Attend pre-bid and client meetings, present value engineering, and lead final negotiations.Maintain all estimate-related documents and prepare submittals for awarded contracts.Oversee awarded contract tracking, including extra work pricing and change orders.Mentor and train Junior Estimators.QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelors degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience).10+ years of experience in estimating and cost control, with a focus on heavy civil construction.Ability to manage complex bids and lead a team, with experience in unit price, lump sum, and design-build contracts.Familiarity with VDOT, USACE, NAVFAC, and local government is preferred.SOFTWARE:Proficient in Microsoft Office, HCSS (Heavy Bid), Primavera, and Viewpoint.Strong technical writing and digital skills.
