The Mission Enabling Products (MEP) Business Unit is seeking a
Senior Director of Engineering
to join our team. This position will report to the MEP BU Vice President (VP) serving as a key member of the BU's leadership team.
This position is required to be onsite with a primary office location in one of the following Northrop Grumman office locations. Further, to support business needs, travel is required up to 40% of the time.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Accountable for leading the business-unit Engineering function including all associated processes, tools, staffing, engagement, and training
Accelerate progress and improve Engineering Daily Management SQDEC with a focus on drawing on-time-delivery (OTD) and first-pass-yield (FPY)
Ensure effective implementation of standard tools and processes and sharing of best practices
Lead all Engineering cross-functional and cross-disciplinary teams, which includes 150+ multi-product and multi-disciplinary engineers and test technicians
Support the development and execution of a technology roadmap across the business-unit
Improve Engineering risk & opportunity management and failure review process (FRB) discipline
Drive effort to assess risk around key talent capability gaps and bench depth and implement systematic organizational risk reduction mitigations
Drive improved capabilities in systems design, configuration management, change control, and design for manufacturing Deploy/leverage subject-matter-expertise across the business-unit
Be a leader in realizing the business unit’s aspirational culture
Improve design for manufacturing by ensuring design is buildable and the drawings are accurate the first time (FPY)
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering and a minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in a diverse end-to-end hardware engineering application (i.e: systems, design, analysis, test)
Proven ability in leading engineering processes (such as validity of design and understanding manufacturability of hardware)
Experience with R&Os management and leading FRB processes
Ability to transform the Engineering function including: implementation of standards and processes, improve engineering execution, and significantly improve the technical capabilities of the organization
Technical integration experience to support cross-product pursuits and programs
Experience with the development of a technology roadmap
Creates strategies that shape the future and inspire the team, resulting in sustainable value and performance
Acts with an “owner” mindset and takes accountability, able to overcome and adapt to obstacles and challenges
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred candidates would have knowledge of advanced composites engineering and manufacturing processes.
Experience in spacecraft and space components analysis, systems, design and test
Experience in leading functional matrix engineering organizations located in multiple different geographically separated locations across the US
Program Management experience
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
ITAR Requirements: To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
Salary Range:
$228,700 - $343,100
