We are seeking a full-time ordained associate pastor to provide general pastoral ministry in the congregation to support our senior pastor, including preaching, with specific focus on overseeing our ministry to youth, young adults and young families.Position Qualifications:We are seeking a candidate with a sincere commitment to Jesus and a heart for building up the body of Christ, able to motivate, disciple, and equip the saints for service. He should have an MDIV or equivalent, a few years’ practical experience in pastor and youth ministry with gifts in building relationships, communication, leading, teaching, counseling and preaching.Terms:Full-time position with salary, housing allowance, medical and retirement benefits, Christian school tuition assistance, allowances for ministry related expenses, three weeks of vacation, one week of study leave.Church Description:First CRC is a congregation of about 500 souls, founded in 1900, in an agricultural community of 16,000 people, 15 minutes from Bellingham, WA, 2 hours from Seattle, WA, and 45 minutes from Vancouver, BC. We are a multi-generational church of young families to senior saints. We are committed to our Reformed roots, building on a foundation of Biblical, expository teaching for all ages.Job Description

The associate pastor is a spiritual leader and shepherd in the congregation. He provides general pastoral ministry to the flock, especially in the areas of youth, young adults and family. He will also provide support to the senior pastor.Primary responsibilities:Pastoral ministry:

Support the senior pastor in the shepherding of the flock, focusing especially on discipling and giving pastoral care and visitation to young families and youth.Youth:

Give leadership, training, and oversight to middle school and high school youth ministry, including evening meetings, High School Sunday School, and summer SERVE. Build relationships with the youth and their families.Families:

Give leadership, training, and oversight to the ministry to families and their children.Worship:

Assist in worship leadership on a regular basis. Preach and administer the sacraments in the senior pastor’s absence or as requested, 12 or more times per year.Administration:

Lead and train youth leaders, attend evening education ministry team, elders, and council meetings. Meet regularly with the senior pastor.Qualifications:Must believe in the Bible as the inspired Word of God and sole source of sound doctrine, affirm the creeds and confessions of the Christian Reformed Church and affirm the Human Sexuality Report of Synod 2022.Must, with his family, be an active member of First CRC of Lynden.Must have a heart for building up the body of Christ and be able to motivate and equip the laity for ministry according to Ephesians 4:11-13.Must have gifts in leading, teaching, administering, visiting, and preaching.Should have a Master of Divinity or equivalent and be ordained in the CRC or related denomination.Should have experience in youth and general pastoral ministry.Should have some experience and/or education in counseling.Organizational submission:This is a full-time salaried position with direct supervision by the council which conducts annual performance reviews.How To Apply
