For over 40 years, we have been meeting the needs of our communities with the endless dedication of our diverse teams.Job SummaryThe Community Health Education and Training Coordinator works closely with the Director of Community Health and Wellness and the Senior Manager of Community Health to create, organize, and monitor WWH's Community Health and Wellness education and training programs as well as behavioral interventions for groups and individuals. This person coordinates logistics related to client and community engagement; client enrollment in programs and interventions; volunteer recruitment and training; and implementation and evaluation activities to support WWH's diverse compendium of Community Health and Wellness programs and events.Core WWH Primary Essential Duties:Performs and behaves in accordance with Whitman-Walker's mission, through conscientious use of relevant tools and employing a system of checks and balances.Demonstrates organizational skills necessary to multi-task, meet deadlines, and re-prioritize as needed.Participates in organizational quality and performance improvement activities.Role-Specific Primary Essential Duties:Assists with program design, implementation, and evaluation activities for Community Health and Wellness programs and interventions.Conducts annual training needs assessments to develop and conduct training activities relevant to target populations in accordance with identified best practices, including evidence-based and evidence-informed practices.Participates in monthly, quarterly, and annual reviews of training plans to ensure both the accuracy and relevance of all training materials.Establishes and maintains required documentation of completed training programs and performs quality assurance activities to ensure the accuracy and ongoing maintenance of all training materials and participant records.Creates and maintains partnerships with other community-serving organizations and government agencies that expand the reach of WWH's programs and services to the community, including DC Public Schools, DC Public Charter Schools, and local colleges and universities.Collaborates with the Senior Manager of Community Health and other staff to coordinate a range of program activities that address HIV/STI and unintended pregnancy prevention, positive social engagement, substance misuse, general health and wellness, community development, and other topics relevant to the target populations.Performs virtual and in-person outreach to community agencies and social groups, promoting collaboration, referrals to WWH programs, and enrollment of new clients in services at WWH.Facilitates educational sessions and interventions with targeted populations, providing HIV/STI and general health and wellness-related information using age-appropriate, culturally humble, agency-approved materials/models and approaches.Assists in coordinating and overseeing activities of youth volunteers.Performs Counseling, Testing, and Referral Services (CTRS) and supports mobile testing efforts and community engagement events for target populations, including a partnership with the DC Department of Health.Serves as a WWH representative at community meetings and events as assigned.Responsibilities include other duties as assigned, including special tasks involved in responding to an emergency event.Flexibility to work various shifts, empathetic interviews that respect the dignity and diversity of clients.Interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively educate, treat, and counsel clients from diverse backgrounds.Analytical skills, including the ability to understand, interpret and present pertinent data to WWH staff and external agencies.Familiarity with other community-serving organizations in the DC Metropolitan area relevant to target populations.Team-building and coaching skills.Interpersonal skills necessary to de-escalate challenging client encounters.Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team structure by demonstrating the ability to collaborate and contribute to the team's work.Sensitivity to all areas of diversity, including HIV status, race, ethnicity, ability, age, sexual orientation, and gender identity.Education and Experience RequiredBachelor's Degree in psychology, social work, public health, or related field or at least three years of relevant work experience preferred.Written and oral fluency in Spanish or Amharic required.A minimum of one year of experience in mentoring clients is required.HIV testing and training certification from INSTI required.At least one year of experience developing and providing training modules and technical assistance activities preferred.At least one year of experience in facilitating professional training activities or two years in the social services field preferred.At least three years of experience conducting HIV/STI testing, counseling, and outreach preferred with experience in providing counseling to people living with HIV also preferred.At least three years of experience working directly with members of target populations including group facilitation and providing one-on-one interventions preferred.Certification for
