The Role

GovExec Events seeks an Events Manager based in the DMV area. Events that GovExec organizes include webcasts, roundtables, editorial series, workshops, summits, and both in-person and virtual conferences. As the Events Manager, you will be a critical player in managing a portfolio of in-person and digital event experiences for the public sector. You will see events through from conceptualization to execution, and support colleagues on their events. Although this position is remote, you must be able to travel 50% of the time for events.ResponsibilitiesPlan and execute events ranging in format and size including:

Webcasts with 150+ viewersIn-person and digital workshops with 100+ attendees with 5-10 event sponsorsIn-person and digital summits featuring live-streamed sessions, experiential networking opportunities, and multiple underwriters/sponsorsDigital TV programs, recorded in a modern production facilityCustom white-label event projects

Serve as the event's project manager, owning the program timeline and daily communications with clients; internal executives, staff, and colleagues; relevant speakers, program participants, vendors, and other external partnersServe as the event's logistics manager, owning the logistics and overall attendee experience, as well as the related day-to-day communications with internal stakeholders, relevant speakers, other program participants, vendors, and other external partnersResearch event venues and negotiate terms and conditionsPlan food & beverage and venue set-upsWork with vendors to coordinate printing, shipping, audio-visual, and other event needsLead on-site managementMeet or exceed budgetary goals through vendor contract negotiation and other creative cost efficacy measuresBe an enterprising, entrepreneurial, and productive team contributor, constantly and eagerly identifying new means of innovation to grow GEMG's impact with all constituents in advance of, on-site, and following each event producedOpportunity to additionally manage responsibilities and tasks based on interests, experiences, and organizational needsQualificationBachelor's degree and 4+ years of relevant experienceInterest in national affairs, politics, business, and the artsAbility to manage complex and fast-changing program elements and prioritize effectively in responseCreative and strategic thinking with an emphasis on customer service to meet client objectives for an eventPersuasive communication, effective negotiation skills, and the ability to negotiate contractsMeticulous attention to detail and superior organizational skillsEntrepreneurial spirit, track record of initiative, and ownership of workAbility to travel up to 50% of the timeAbout GovExec:GovExec's data and insights set the standard for depth, accuracy, and impact for government leaders and contractors.
