With a broad spectrum of religious, cultural, social & educational activities, there are many reasons that Temple Emanuel is a pillar of the Jewish community in Newton and the surrounding area.Job SummaryThe K-8 Program Coordinator will spend their time coordinating our successful special programming for students in grades K-8, and their families. Programming will take place mostly within Religious School hours, and occasionally, during evening, shabbat or holiday times.The PROGRAM COORDINATOR will report directly to the Director of Education and work closely with the Education Coordinator, clergy, teachers, staff and other members of the engagement team.Candidates should be committed to Jewish education and be interested in making the Religious School/Synagogue experience the best it can be.Candidates should have excellent organizational and communications skills, the ability to prioritize and to collaborate successfully with other professionals in a dynamic environment, be able to juggle many balls at once, and have excellent people skills.Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Program Coordinator will work with the Director of Education and other professional staff to ensure that Religious School and Family Learning Programs run smoothly and professionally.Specific responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:Organizing and executing activities and events:The PROGRAM COORDINATOR will support the planning, organization and implementation of Religious School special programs and events. Some of these programs are new, however, many are already “staples” in our school calendar.Tasks will include:Completing event formsOrdering and organizing suppliesCoordinating with vendors and processing invoicesCreating invitations/flyersCoordinating space reservations, set up, IT needs with Temple staffOrdering and coordinating food/drinkSoliciting and tracking RSVP’s/promoting attendanceIdentifying and coordinating with volunteers who can provide hands-on supportPreparing/setting up materials for programTracking payments for special programsTaking pictures or coordinating with photo corpsWorking with Engagement team to include non-Religious School children in family programming.Overseeing clean up and material storage/re-useBeing a welcoming presence:The Program Coordinator is expected to be present when our Religious School is in session and at select events, some of which will be held in the evening or on weekends.For our Religious School, the Program Coordinator is expected to help welcome and greet parents, caregivers, and children at one of the front doors.When there are multiple programs going on at once, Program Coordinator will represent the Director of Education at one or more of these programs; welcoming families and making sure all runs smoothly.At times, the Program Coordinator will visit classrooms and help get students excited for upcoming special events.Assisting with communications:

The Program Coordinator will work with the Director of Education and the Synagogue Marketing team to ensure programs and activities are communicated in accurate, timely, and effective ways.They will prepare and distribute flyers for upcoming events.They will prepare and disseminate information (via email, Whatsapp, Facebook, etc) about special programs and events.They will collect, sort and post photos on the RS Facebook page directly after each event, as well as coordinate with the marketing team about posting on regular Temple page.They will manage and update the Religious School google calendar.QualificationsExcellent interpersonal and collaborative skills including the ability to develop positive relationships and contribute to building a positive organizational culture.Outstanding organizational skills – ability to juggle many balls in the air at once.Ability to prioritize, take initiative and work independently or as a member of a team as required.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.Relational skills: excellent rapport for working with children of all ages/abilities and their families.Familiarity with Jewish customs and celebrations and enthusiasm for expanding knowledge about Jewish life.Proficiency in Hebrew a plus.Proficiency with Microsoft Software (Word and Excel), shared drive, group emails, and familiarity with Google Drive (Docs, Forms and Sheets) and social media (Facebook/Instagram).Proficiency with, or ability to learn, Canva, Constant Contact, Airtable, Sign-up Genius, Punchbowl Invites, and more.Education/ExperienceSynagogue or other Jewish organizational experience.Hillel, Camp, or other school programming experience.College degree in relevant field.Experience in experiential education/project-based learning.Non-profit management/program planning.Additional InformationThis position is primarily in person at Temple Emanuel.The position is 20 hours/week. During the school year; the specific work schedule will be agreed to between the Education Director and the Program Coordinator. Work schedule will change week to week, depending on programming.
