For 40 years, the U.S. Navy has entrusted HII to maintain and modernize the vast majority of its fleet.DescriptionHII Mission Technologies is seeking a Technical Artist 1 to support 2D graphic design development for various projects within its Multimedia group! This position is located at our NetCenter in Hampton, VA with a HYBRID work schedule available once fully trained. The selected candidate must be able to create 2D illustrations of real-life objects using limited source materials (photos, technical drawings). This is a part-time, temporary assignment expected to last 260 days (20 – 32 hours per week; with a potential to convert to full-time).What You Will DoThis job involves developing multimedia materials for different applications, such as real-time simulation and training.You will help define and support the production pipeline, and use your skills to analyze, design, implement, integrate, test, debug, and maintain multimedia assets like 2D/3D graphics, streaming video, and audio in virtual and other environments.You will work with instructional designers, engineers, artists, subject matter experts, and project professionals to create visual and technical designs for various virtual environments.You may also write briefs, project plans, technical reports, and user manuals.Experience with multimedia development tools like Adobe Creative Suite is required.What You Must HaveCandidate must have either:0 years experience with Bachelors in related field;Or High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevant experience.Candidate must submit a digital portfolio with samples of illustration work (include with résumé)Candidate must have experience using Adobe Creative SuiteCandidate must be proficient in Adobe Illustrator and PhotoshopCandidate must have the ability to create vector, 2D illustrations that appear three-dimensionalCandidate must have the knowledge of vector illustration techniques (stroke effects, gradients, shading, etc.)Candidate must have knowledge of foundational design principlesCandidate must have attention to detailCandidate must have the ability to demonstrate illustration skillsCandidate must be a U.S. CitizenCandidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.Bonus Points For Having …Experience with graphic print production is preferredExperience designing newsletters and/or other printed media is preferredExperience using professional digital cameras or video cameras is preferredPhoto and/or Video editing experience is preferredExperience working on US Navy vessels is preferredPhysical RequirementsMay require working in an industrial or shipboard environment.
