1.000Position Summary/Purpose of Position:The Office of Diversity & Inclusion (ODI) provides expertise and leadership at the University of Maryland related to equity, diversity, and inclusion work. The Nyumburu Cultural Center has served the university’s community since 1971 and continues to build on its foundations as the center for black social, cultural and intellectual interaction. The program coordinator, cultural programming and engagement will develop and execute cultural programming and events to enhance campus community members’ appreciation for diverse experiences. This position will implement and manage event concepts and programming, including registration, budgeting, and program logistics. The program coordinator will mentor and supervise minors participating in the Camp Shule and support the center’s day-to-day operations, define and assess programming, and coordinate marketing and social media efforts.Education:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.Experience:

Three (3) years of experience in project or programming management.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Working knowledge of information technology applications.Ability to make effective and timely decisions.Intermediate to advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access).Intermediate user of GSuite and Adobe Acrobat.Excellent communication skills including writing, editing, and speaking.Excellent interpersonal skills and time management skills.Ability to manage projects and events under competing deadlines and priorities.Preferences:University experience is preferred.Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.Passion for supporting marginalized and historically underrepresented student populations and community members.Job Risks:
