Physical Requirements

Moving and lifting object from floor to above shoulders up to 25 pounds. Standing and sitting at computer terminals and laboratory bench completing repetitive tasks for extensive periods of time. Continuous working with materials requiring personal protective equipment in accord with EH&S policy.

Shift

Primarily Days Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm. Some evenings and weekends may be possible due to experimentation.

Job Summary

The Saha CVRC is seeking a lab technician to work within a research group studying metabolism and cardiovascular disease. We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate with a passion for exciting research. Responsibilities will include general laboratory upkeep and organization, ordering supplies, performance of experiments, and assistance with mouse colony maintenance. Daily work activities may require maintenance of cell lines and some animal care. Other duties include organizing, conducting, analyzing and recording experimental data; maintaining of some lab equipment. Experience with any of the following techniques is desirable: cell culture, confocal microscopy, western blotting, PCR, and mouse work. However, a candidate lacking experience but possessing a positive attitude and a strong ability to learn new research techniques will be seriously considered as long as they meet the minimum requirements.
