TCGplayer connects hobbyists and hobby businesses to communities. We relentlessly improve the exchange of things and thoughts that fuel passions, providing the most compelling destination and tools for collectible card game enthusiasts and professional sellers! The Senior Data engineer will join the Data Engineering team, who collaborate across the TCGplayer Technology organization to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the organization's use of datastore technologies. Members of this team partner with other teams to define appropriate datastore infrastructure for applications, create efficient and scalable database and data flow designs, resolve scaling or performance challenges as they arise in existing systems, and generally support effective datastore usage in aspects such as data architecture, data governance, data lifecycle management, software currency, and security.

What you will accomplish:
Guide selection of appropriate datastore technologies for new and replatformed applications, ensuring they meet current and future data needs Consult on database design for the structures within an application's datastores, optimizing for performance and scalability Write minimal yet effective code, primarily database queries, to facilitate data management and manipulation Support other engineers and teams with expert advice on the best ways to interface with databases and data storage solutions Support the development of data flow strategies and assist in defining data storage requirements for microservices, ensuring alignment with overall system architecture Troubleshoot and improve existing database designs and queries to enhance system performance and reliability Collaborate with other teams to ensure that data architectures and data flow designs are scalable, reliable, and efficient Provide leadership on cross-application datastore-related projects, including those related to security, software currency, and platform migrations Act as a subject matter expert for one or more datastores, offering direct guidance and creating materials to help other technologists improve their proficiency with datastore usage Research emerging capabilities in both the datastores used by the organization and the broader marketplace to inform long-term strategic planning in the data domain Define and implement data storage strategies for microservices, ensuring each service is supported by a robust and appropriate data management framework What you will bring:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or a related field, or a combination of education and experience 8 years or more experience in designing datastores, data architectures, and data flows for microservices which are scalable, reliable, and efficient. Mastery of NoSQL datastore technologies, significant experience with MongoDB strongly preferred. Familiarity with other NoSQL databases like Redis and ElasticSearch is also beneficial. Significant experience with RDBMS technologies. PostgreSQL preferred. Strong experience and knowledge relating to working within a cloud-first environment, AWS experience strongly preferred. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, including ability to adapt messaging as appropriate for varying audiences. Strong ability to influence through collaboration across functional roles and levels within the organization.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York is expected in the range below.
$135,200 - $205,700 Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employees will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
