The main purpose of this position is to plan and administer the school's library media program. As an instructional partner, the incumbent collaborates with teachers to provide student information literacy skills instruction integrated into the content areas; supports staff and students in developing an appreciation of literature and reading; manages school library materials, facilities, and equipment; and communicates JSEP's vision for accelerated student achievement and successful transition within the context of effective and meaningful library programming.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education:

Possession of appropriate educational credentials as determined by the Maryland State Board of Education.Experience:

None.SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess a MSDE Secondary Education Educators Licensure in Library or Library Media.DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Endorsement in Secondary Education, Library Media Specialist or Librarian.One year of teaching experience to include internship.Current active certification issued by the State of Maryland Department of Education.LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS:

Teachers in State operated school programs are required to acquire and maintain certification to teach in the State of Maryland per Education Article, Section 6-101 of the Annotated Code of Maryland and Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) 13A.12.01.03B(2). Applicants recommended for appointment will be required to complete an Authorization and Verification of Credentials.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Employees in this classification are subject to Substance Abuse Testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulation 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
