Test Engineering Intern - Summer 2025

As a Test Engineer Intern at Lunar Outpost, you will support the testing and validation of lunar rovers and other spaceflight hardware. Test Engineering Interns will be involved in multiple aspects of the testing lifecycle, from writing test plans and documentation to fabricating test setups and executing tests in specialized environments, such as Thermal Vacuum (TVAC) chambers and lunar simulant facilities. All interns will work directly alongside full-time engineers on real, engaging, and impactful projects, providing tangible value to Lunar Outpost products. This internship is a truly end-to-end experience that promotes collaboration in every stage of autonomous robotic development!
Key Responsibilities:
Test Documentation: Write detailed test procedures, test plans, and reports, ensuring compliance with rigorous aerospace industry standards
Test Hardware Design and Fabrication: Design, build, and assemble test fixtures and custom equipment required for component and full-system tests
Component and Full System Testing: Assist in executing comprehensive tests on subsystems and full robotic systems, including integration tests for spaceflight hardware
Environmental Testing: Run tests in Thermal Vacuum (TVAC) chambers, simulant testbeds, and other environmental setups to simulate space conditions
Data Analysis: Analyze test data to ensure hardware meets the mission requirements and provide feedback for iterative design improvements
Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, to ensure test objectives are met
Qualifications:
Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to work methodically in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Can effectively demonstrate communication and interpersonal skills, while also excelling in collaboration and teamwork in an interdisciplinary environment
Exhibits strong organizational and time management skills under pressure and in stressful situations
Fueled by a passion for space exploration and the boundless possibilities beyond our world
Mid-May (May 19) to early August (August 8). Start and end dates are flexible with intern's school schedule. In-person, Monday - Friday in Arvada, Colorado.
