The Network Engineer creates, deploys, and maintains network communication configurations and infrastructures utilizing LAN/WAN and RF technology standards for installation at customer locations. This position also serves as technical support to SONIFI Installations, Technical Assistance Center, Field Service, Sales, and any subcontractors on these topics pre or post-installation.

What you’ll do:

Designs moderately complex RF (Wi-Fi) channel plans, IP addressing schemes and network designs to include accurate services and materials lists (Bill of Materials – BOM) as a result of a site survey or from provided information. Ensuring that the network design meets or exceeds stated customer requirements within an appropriate budget amount.

Produce accurate configuration and installation documentation as generated through the design process.

Collaborates, supports and monitors Guest Internet Access (GIA) installation activities during all project phases.

As the technical lead on installation projects, ensures SONIFI’s technical expectations are communicated and followed by the deployment team, responding to any questions/issues in a timely manner and escalating issues/gaps/concerns in a timely manner to the appropriate personnel.

Analyzes requirements and provides alternative options for network design revisions to meet changing customer requirements. This may include consulting with the customer or customer representative to define the purpose of the network and various network requirements. Sales or Project lead may be involved in negotiations with customer to ensure SONIFI provides the best product is provided while customer financial commitments.

Assists in the creation and maintenance of training and support documentation for GIA Installation Technicians, Subcontractors, Field Service and Technical Assistance Center Engineers on proper site survey, installation, configuration and support methodologies.

Assists in the development of guidelines and documentation for network configurations to support best practices.

Maintains a thorough understanding of network equipment, technology and concepts including but not limited to switches, routers, access points, network controllers, firewalls, data cabling, cross-connects, RF cabling, both passive and active optical networking, wireless communication protocols, DOCSIS, DSL, network management software and other networking technologies developed.

Evaluates and tests vendor products to determine those which best meet the company and customers’ needs including creating evaluation summary to present to management. Assist with the onboarding of approved components including but not limited to creation of company documentation and base configurations.

Maintain current status of assigned projects in company systems and provide project status reports when required.

Provide pre-sale, installation and post-sale network engineering support.

May be tasked with providing leadership, coaching and/or mentoring to SONIFI Associates.

What you’ll need:

A four-year degree in a related technical field and two to four years relevant experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Has experience with and solid working knowledge of TCP/IP Addressing, subnetting and LAN/WAN configuration and network installation support.

Also, solid working knowledge of Ekahau Survey Pro, Microsoft Office including VISIO, UNIX/LINUX, Hypervisors like ESXi, Database Implementation, Administration and Support, Software Defined Networking (SDN) as well as Scripting Languages such as Ansible, Python, Perl, Ruby or PHP is preferred.

Desired vendor/industry certifications include: Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Certified Wireless Network Professional (CWNP), Ruckus WiSE, Aruba Certified Mobility Professional (ACMP), Aruba Certified Switching Professional (ACSP) or equivalent/higher certifications.

Ability to communicate via verbal, electronic and written communication to SONIFI associates as well as to customers is a must along with the capability to clearly convey technical concepts to non-technical people.

Success in this role will be for the individual to be able to perform the essential functions at a level acceptable to the company and will be expected to perform the listed tasks, duties and responsibilities under little guidance of others.

Generally starting at $70,000 - $100,000 annually. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, location, experience, education, specialty, and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
