The Emergency Department Registered Nurse assumesresponsibility and accountability for the application of the nursing processand the delivery of patient care in the emergency room setting or other emergentcritical care areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, andevaluate patient careUses clinical judgment to manage delivery of patient caresafely and effectivelyTriages effectively according to the severity and criticalnature of patients' conditionComprehensively assesses a patient's needs, obtaining theirmedical history and personal information, and seeking a doctor's evaluationimmediately for life-threatening issuesCommunicates with other medical professionals involved inthe patient's care in a timely mannerIdentifies and recognizes abnormal symptoms and changes inpatient condition, established priorities, and takes appropriate actionCarries out providers orders accurately and timelyPerforms, delegates, and supervises patient care activitieswithin the scope of practice to meet the age-appropriate patient care needsPerforms and/or assists in emergency treatment as requiredin accordance with RN scope of practiceFollows emergency policies, procedures and protocols in aneffective mannerAssesses the patient's physical, psychosocial,environmental, social, and educational needsDevelops, implements and updates patient's plan of care,including the education and discharge plan based on evidence-based practicestandards and patient/family needs in collaboration with multi-disciplinaryhealthcare teamPerforms other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
Current Registered Nurse License within the state ofpracticeMinimum of one year emergency room experience preferredComplies with all relevant professional standards ofpracticeParticipation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicableCurrent CPR if applicableTB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicableCurrent Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)Must meet all federal, state and local requirementsSuccessful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob siteUnderstand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirementsAbility to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is requiredComputer proficiency requiredMust be at least 18 years of age
