The

Probation Department

is recruiting for

Supervising Probation Officers

who perform a wide variety of departmental supervisory duties including organizing, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating work performed by Probation Officers and assigned staff. Incumbents conduct orientation or in-service training; explain and interpret departmental policies and procedures; assess staff development needs and confer with Division Directors regarding assignment of personnel, workload, employee performance, and unit problems.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Availability:

May be assigned to institutions or special programs and may be assigned shift or variable work, including weekend and holiday hours.

Peace Officer Status:

Have peace officer status and must be willing to complete the department's arming training and accept an armed position.

Background:

Must meet peace officer requirements (P.C. 832) and pass an extensive background investigation.

License:

Must possess and maintain a valid Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance.

EXPERIENCE:

Two (2) years of experience as a Probation Officer III.

The ideal candidate will possess a diverse experience as a probation officer with a current Peace Officer status to include experience in juvenile, adult, and administrative assignments, leadership skills, and the ability to work as a member of a team, who demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be willing to accept an armed position.
