Assist the Director, Tax Audit and Planning and VP, Tax Planning and Strategy in handling various indirect corporate tax matters, including preparing, reviewing, and filing sales, use, property, payroll and other indirect tax filings required by Maritz Holdings Inc. & Subsidiaries.

Primary Responsibilities:

40% - Prepare, review and file federal, state, local and Canadian indirect tax returns. Prepare or review journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts. Monitor compliance with policies and procedures making recommendation for necessary updates. Keep abreast of tax related materials for possible impact on Maritz.

20% - Provide support for maintenance of various tax related software. Provide support for maintenance of payroll tax registration related matters.

20% - Provide support for resident and non-resident alien, governmental reporting, analysis, tax deposits, general ledger account reconciliation and compliance of various employee benefits plans and their associated filings with government entities.

20% - Assist with governmental and client audits, responding to document requests and/or preparing reconciliation schedules. Prepare or assist with preparation of claim for tax refunds, refund requests and amended tax returns. Investigate and reply to various governmental correspondence and inquiries. Perform research on various corporate tax matters and assists in ad hoc financial analysis. Prepare tax applications, tax registrations, tax withdrawals, maintain permanent and audit files, or other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance required or equivalent work experience.

1-2 years of corporate sales, use, property, and/or payroll tax experience in either public accounting and/or industry.

Minimum of 1 year of hands-on sales/use tax experience coupled with a working knowledge of Vertex or comparable tax software.

Knowledge of Oracle and Sovos/Convey or comparable 1099/1042-S tax reporting software.

Proven tax research techniques.

Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills.
