POSITION SUMMARY:This position primarily involves outpatient pediatric care at Conway Medical Center, with additional responsibilities for inpatient hospitalist coverage as needed. The provider will deliver comprehensive care to pediatric patients in an outpatient setting but will also step in to provide inpatient care during the hospitalist’s PTO and occasional weekend coverage. This dual role ensures continuity of care for our pediatric patients across both outpatient and inpatient environments.POSITION OVERVIEW:Standard office hours (Mon-Fri / 8am-5pm)Protected administrative time (5 days clinic time with .5-day admin time per week)36 patient contact hours / 4 admin hoursCall Schedule: Minimal, shared among all physicians on a 1:7 to 1:8 rotationPatients are directed to the ED for afterhours emergenciesThere are private practice urgent cares in the community, if neededCerner EMRSupport Staff: A dedicated nurse and access to support from medical assistants.PATIENT VOLUME & CENSUS:Average Patient Volume: 18-22 +/- patients per day30 minutes for new patient / 15 minutes for f/uPatient Census: Primarily pediatric casesVISIT TYPES:Visit Types: Well-child, sick visits (bread and butter), same-day acute visits, ADHD medication managementBENEFITS:Sign-on Bonus: $ 25k+ sign-on bonus

L&D, postpartum, nursery, C-section OR, and pediatrics are conveniently located on the same floor.Typical Census: 8-15 newborns per day / 0-2 pediatric patients per day.Neonatal Focus: 90% of inpatient duties involve managing newborn patients (nursery coverage), with 10% focused on straightforward pediatric admissions (basic ENT cases, no complex subspecialty care or PICU-level needs).Nursery Level: Level 2 nursery with providers required to attend deliveries as early as 32 weeks gestation.Procedures: Includes circumcisions, emergency CPAP management, frenotomies, excision of simple polydactyly, and emergency procedures such as intubation, needle decompression of pneumothorax, and UVC placement (though these are rare).High-Risk Transfers: High-risk deliveries or newborns needing advanced care (e.g., mechanical ventilation, therapeutic cooling, neonatal surgery) are transferred to McLeod (Level 3 NICU) or MUSC (Level 4 NICU). McLeod is accessible by ground transport within 2 hours; MUSC by helicopter within 45 minutes.Annual Deliveries: CMC handles approximately 1,600 deliveries annually, expected to increase to 1,800-2,000 with Women’s Health expansion. Volume may continue to grow due to transfers from Grand Strand Medical Center.NOTE:

Pediatric hospitalists must have completed a full 3-year U.S.-based residency.
