Job Duties:Build and scale the high-traffic services that underpin Reddit’s most fundamental user experiences, and the new innovations that will spark connections and fuel the next wave of Reddit’s growth. Build a stable, high-performance, and flexible platform API upon which product teams and Reddit can quickly iterate on user-delighting features. Maintain and operate our core services and ensure industry-leading uptime and resilience. Given directional clarity, independently design and implement high-quality software solutions. Help assess and hire strong new talent to fuel our mission. Mentor and coach more junior engineers on your direct team to grow skills and increase their impact and contribution. Telecommuting is an option.Minimum Requirements:Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or closely related quantitative discipline, and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in job offered or in any occupation in a related field.Special Skill Requirements:(1) Proficiency with at least one high-performance language such as Golang, C, C++, or Java; (2) Large-scale development with continuous integration (CI) systems; (3) Large-scale deployment with continuous deployment (CD) systems; (4) Operating services on Kubernetes; (5) Designing best-practice RPC APIs and interfacing with structured RPC protocols such as gRPC or Thrift; (6) High-scale, data-intensive service design and development; (7) High-scale service operation and incident management; (8) Dynamic software-based traffic routing; (9) Design, implementation, and operation of eventually-consistent systems; (10) Debugging distributed services/applications; (11) Zero-downtime service deployment methodology; and (12) Service observability, instrumentation, and monitoring.
