Senior Advisor for Financial Systems

The Senior Advisor to the Vice Chancellor/CFO for Financial Systems will serve as the Vice Chancellor's principal advisor regarding the selection, implementation and maintenance of financial systems, including budget, planning, reporting, and business information tools, enterprise resource planning systems and software, such as Oracle or PeopleSoft platforms, for the University of California at Los Angeles. The Senior Advisor works in close collaboration with campus senior leaders, and the greater campus community to improve the strategic management of the University's resources. The Senior Advisor will have responsibility for providing recommendations and implementing agreed upon strategies. The Senior Advisor represents the Vice Chancellor in day-to-day operations and works in conjunction with VC/CFO Associate Vice Chancellors. The Senior Advisor works in close collaboration with campus senior leaders, notably campus Information Technology Services and campus CFOs and CAOs to improve the strategic use of technology tools to improve the University's financial management. The Vice Chancellor/Chief Financial Officer (CFO) organization is composed of 6 departments and has a $110 million budget spent in 2023-24 and includes approximately 400 staff members.

Salary & Compensation

UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications

10 or more years of experience advising senior Finance leadership at the Associate Vice Chancellor level, at a major research-intensive public university with an annual budget of more than $4B on financial technology systems (Required)

Experience with the Oracle and PeopleSoft enterprise resource planning environments (Required)

Experience implementing non-Oracle or PeopleSoft enterprise reporting software modules, such as WorkDay or OneStream, to provide budget or other functionalities in these environments (Required)

Ability to successfully work with incomplete or difficult ERP implementations (Preferred)

Ability to use unique reporting software tools, e.g. Spreadsheet Server or Tableau, to create the core reports for both annual financial reports and annual budgets (Required)

Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and regulatory compliance (Required)

Ability to align financial systems and processes with the organization’s strategic goals (Required)

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information into business terms (Required)

Skill in leading change management initiatives, particularly in the adoption of new financial systems and processes (Required)

Ability to analyze complex financial data and systems to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement (Required)

Strong problem-solving ability to address system inefficiencies and recommend solutions that improve financial operations (Required)

Ability to work collaboratively with various departments, stakeholders, and external partners to drive system improvements (Required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (Required)

Master's Degree in finance, business administration or closely related field or equivalent combination of education and experience (Required)
