Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Ohio, an Affiliate of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, empowers the young people who need us most to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens by providing high-quality and impactful out-of-school time programming for youth in grades K-12. BGCCO serves 4,000 youth per year throughout Central Ohio.

Position Summary

The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is a pivotal member of the senior leadership team at Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Ohio, reporting directly to the CEO. The CAO will oversee administrative operations, ensuring alignment with best practice and strategic goals. This role is crucial for leading various administrative functions, including financial management, human resources, compliance and risk management, and infrastructure and operations. The CAO will supervise employees and contractors, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment that supports our mission to help kids unlock their potential.

Essential Job Function & Responsibilities:

Operational oversight and responsibility of BGCCO administrative staff, operations, operational revenue.

Elevate, empower and enable the effective and efficient operations of each department.

Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with organizational goals.

Identify opportunities for growth and improvement for business operations.

Works closely with senior leadership to align common goals and communication strategies and cross functional initiatives.

Establish operation policies and procedures that affect departments within work unit(s) oversight.

Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Supervise, mentor, and evaluate staff performance, ensuring alignment with organizational standards.

Financial Management

Oversee budgeting, financial planning, projections and analysis to ensure the organization's budget reflects community and youth needs.

Make sure financial controls and guidelines are in place to optimize cost effectiveness, efficiency and profitability.

Reviews contracts and consultant agreements, works with subcontractors and/or vendors for budget and document preparation.

Implement and monitor financial policies, procedures, and controls, ensuring compliance with Board-approved standards.

Develop and maintain a strategic cash reserve policy and plan for long-term success.

Prepare and present financial reports to the Board and stakeholders.

Human Resources

Understands the needs of the organization and effectively drives strategy in alignment with BGCCO growth plans focused on acquiring, growing and developing talent pipeline, meeting and staying relevant in a fast pace market.

Collaborates to develop a strategy and initiative that prioritizes and ensures diversity, equity and inclusion.

Develop and maintain a documented training plan strategy demonstrating commitment to staff professional development.

Foster a positive work environment, executing a strategy that recognizes and rewards employees and teams for their contributions.

Working knowledge of HR best practices, stays current on HR trends, employment laws and regulations.

Compliance & Risk Management

Ensure organizational compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements including Boys & Girls Clubs of America Membership Requirements.

Develop and implement risk management strategies to protect organizational assets and reputation.

Conduct regular reviews of policies, procedures, and risk measures, updating as necessary.

Working knowledge of grant awards and compliance to collaborate with other departments relevant to audits to ensure compliance with grant requirements and federal regulations.

Infrastructure and Operations

Oversee the management and maintenance of organizational infrastructure and facilities and Information Technology.

Ensure evaluation outcomes and continuous learning is incorporated into operations.

Develop and implement operational strategies that support organizational efficiency and effectiveness.

Share operational insights and learning with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Demonstrated experience in fostering a positive work environment and implementing effective human resources practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field required.

MBA or related advanced degree preferred.

A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in administration, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

Proven track record in non-profit financial management, human resources, compliance, and operational oversight.
