Atlanta Mission is seeking a dynamic and strategic Chief Operating Officer (COO) to oversee and optimize the operational functions of our ministry. The COO will report directly to the CEO and will be a vital member of the Executive Team. This role will be responsible for providing oversight, leadership, and direction to Facilities, Fleet, Food/Dining Services, Thrift, and the In-Kind Donation Center, ensuring these areas operate efficiently, align with our mission and values, and work seamlessly with all other areas of the ministry to provide a frictionless client experience. The ideal candidate will be a passionate, strategic, systems-oriented leader who embodies our mission and values and is well-versed in leading teams to create positive, impactful, and transformative work.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership:

Provide strategic and operational leadership to Facilities, Fleet, Food/Dining Services, Thrift, and the In-Kind Donation Center. Ensure these areas are aligned with Atlanta Missions overall goals and strategies and are supporting our approach to create excellent trauma-informed care environments. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for operational areas. Use data and analytics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement. Develop and manage budgets for all operational areas, ensuring financial resources are used effectively and aligned with organizational priorities. Ensure all operational areas comply with regulatory requirements and organizational policies. Implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential operational risks.

Strategic Planning:

Collaborate with the CEO and Executive Team to develop and execute short and long-term operational strategies that align with our organization's mission, vision, and values. Drive initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and support organizational growth. Utilize analytics to measure the impact of our operational programs and initiatives, providing insights to the Executive Team for informed decision-making. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to build strategic partnerships that support our organizational and operational initiatives.

Team Leadership:

Lead and mentor the operations team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement and innovation. Ensure that team members are equipped to excel in their current roles and are prepared for future career opportunities. Collaborate with HR to implement training and development programs to enhance team performance.

Capital Projects/ Real Estate:

Collaborate with the CEO, Executive Team and Real Estate Committee of our Board of Directors to define organization-wide capital objectives for each fiscal year, within a strategic, multi-year capital plan that also provides for ongoing/deferred maintenance needs at all campuses.

Facilities Management:

Establish and maintain world-class facilities designed for trauma-informed care that inspire hope and healing to all who walk through our doors. Ensure all facilities are well-maintained, safe, compliant with regulatory standards, and are a tangible representation of our mission, vision and strategy. Develop and implement maintenance and improvement plans to support service delivery.

Food/Dining Services:

Oversee the management of our food/dining services operations. Ensure high-quality, nutritious meals are provided to those we serve in well-maintained, safe, compliant kitchen environments. Implement processes to enhance food service delivery and efficiency.

Thrift Operations:

Oversee the management of Atlanta Missions thrift stores, ensuring they operate efficiently, meet financial targets, and support the mission. Implement strategies to maximize revenue and operational effectiveness.

In-Kind Donation Center:

Oversee the management of Atlanta Missions In-Kind Donation Center operations. Ensure donations are processed efficiently and effectively to support program needs and thrift store objectives. Develop strategies to optimize the use of donated goods.

Fleet Management:

Oversee the purchasing, management, maintenance, and use of the organization's fleet of vehicles. Ensure they are well-maintained, safe, and used efficiently to support the operational needs of our ministry.

Position Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in business administration, Operations Management, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

10+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations management, with a focus on non-profit or mission-driven organizations.

Proven experience in managing diverse operational areas.

Strong strategic planning, organizational, analytical, and project management skills.

Preferred experience leading the implementation of large capital facilities projects.

Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.

Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Commitment to Atlanta Mission's mission and values, with a passion for transforming lives through Christ.

Physical Requirements:

Must have the ability to remain in a stationary position (standing, walking and sitting).

Must have the ability to constantly operate a computer and other office equipment, such as a copy machine, calculator and computer printer.

Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Must be able to ascend/descend stairs.

Must be able to distinguish, determine, detest taste or smell.

Must be able to communicate accurate information.

Must be able to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 10lbs.

Must have peripheral vision and depth perception.

Environmental Job Requirements:

Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
