Risk Division OVERVIEW We are seeking an experienced, growth hire at the VP level to join the Structured Finance team in Credit Risk (CR). The Structured Finance team risk manages a large and growing book of credit exposures across collateralized wholesale lending and derivative trading. The role offers exposure to a variety of client types, financing structures, collateral asset categories and classes, as well as interaction with key internal and external stakeholders. The role requires transaction structuring knowledge, familiarity with risk ratings, demonstrated ability to provide effective challenge, proven ability to collaborate effectively under tight timelines whilst managing multiple assignments, excellent communication skills, as well as the ability and willingness to coach and nurture emerging talent. CR is responsible for managing the Firm’s credit exposure to its lending and trading counterparties. Credit professionals protect the Firm’s capital by using in-depth knowledge of our clients, markets, and products to make decisions on acceptable level of risk appetite. Credit Risk provides a unique opportunity to develop a variety of professional skills and expertise in risk management while working on financial transactions and gaining a broad perspective on how the entire Firm functions. The Risk Division is a team of specialists charged with managing the Firm’s risk, and providing overall financial control and reporting functions. Whether assessing the creditworthiness of the Firm’s counterparties, monitoring market risks associated with trading activities, or offering analytical and regulatory compliance support, our work contributes directly to the Firm’s success. The division is ideal for collaborative individuals who have strong ethics, communication skills, and attention to detail. RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS Key Responsibilities Underwrite structured financings (warehouse and other asset-backed financings) and commercial real estate mortgage transactions. Represent CR on deal structuring discussions and client due diligence meetings. Coordinate with business, legal and other teams to fully analyze transactions and ensure appropriate documentation, risk mitigants, and limits to minimize defaults and maximize recoveries. Draft deal memoranda, expressing and supporting CR's recommendations. Present credit views in meetings with senior management and committee members; escalate issues to CR senior management. Perform transaction/counterparty reviews, including recommending appropriate internal risk rating for each counterparty and setting credit limits. Monitor the performance of credit exposures in the portfolio, including adherence to terms and covenants, and help formulate risk-mitigating strategies as necessary. Detect and escalate notable industry trends and recommend appropriate action to senior management. Monitor and manage exposure at the facility, product, and portfolio levels; perform sector analysis regularly in order to assess portfolio concentrations and trends. Coach Associates and Analysts through transaction-specific work and non-transaction related tasks. Support ad-hoc non-transaction project work. Basic Skills & Experience Minimum of 5 years of credit risk management experience, with exposure to loan underwriting. Experience assessing structured financing & lending and/or commercial real estate financing transactions. Preferred Skills & Experience Knowledge of lending, derivatives, and funding products and related lending and trading documentation. Familiarity with regulatory risk rating requirements and application of such guidance. Strong analytical and communication skills, both oral and written. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently. Experience in team environment, including working with colleagues across multiple offices and locations. Flexibility, ability to learn quickly. Demonstrated ability and willingness to coach and nurture emerging talent.
