Summary:
The Vice President of Asset Management and IPP is responsible for the ongoing performance, management, and compliance of Strata Solar's operating portfolio of solar assets. This executive is responsible for maximizing financial returns to Strata shareholders and deals stakeholders, as well as maximizing the operations efficiency of the Asset Management department. This involves directing a team of asset managers and support staff to maintain compliance with all contracts entered into by special purpose entities relating to Strata's assets, as well as providing guidance and insight to Strata's Accounting, Accounts Payable, Internal Audit, Operations & Maintenance, and Senior Management teams as necessary to optimize asset performance and compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Asset Strategy Development : Develop and implement strategic plans for managing solar and battery energy assets to maximize their performance, efficiency, and profitability.
Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Oversight : Manage the operations and maintenance activities of solar and battery assets to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime. This includes scheduling maintenance, overseeing repairs, and implementing preventive maintenance programs.
Performance Monitoring and Optimization : Monitor the performance of solar and battery assets through data analysis and performance metrics. Lead a project to meaningfully improve current reporting systems and KPI tracking. Identify opportunities for optimization, such as improving energy yield, reducing operation costs, and enhancing equipment performance. Demonstrated clear understanding of how to collaborate with FP&A and finance functions to link operational forecasts to financial outlooks.
Contract Management : Manage contracts with third-party O&M providers, suppliers, and service vendors to ensure compliance with service level agreements and cost-effectiveness.
Risk Management : Identify and mitigate risks, including technical risks, regulatory compliance, and financial risks.
Financial Management : Oversee financial aspects related to solar asset management, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and revenue optimization.
Compliance and Regulatory Affairs : Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, permits, and standards related to solar energy production and asset management.
Reporting and Documentation : Prepare and present regular reports on the performance, financial metrics, and operational status of solar assets to senior management and stakeholders.
Asset Lifecycle Management : Manage the entire lifecycle of solar assets from development and construction through to operation, maintenance, decommissioning and potential repowering.
Team Leadership and Development : Provide leadership and guidance to a team of asset management professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Stakeholder Relations : Maintain relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g., executives, finance, legal) and external stakeholders (e.g., investors, regulatory authorities, community groups) to support effective asset management and achieve business objectives.
Project Management : Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of asset management projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and according to quality standards.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Work with Human Resources to identify, interview, and hire talented candidates for all open positions.
Supervise all Asset Management staff, including managing day-to-day activities, approving Paid Time Off, monitoring adherence to company policies and job functions, and working with Human Resources to initiate any necessary disciplinary actions.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, STEM, Finance, Economics or related
7-10+ years of asset management experience within the power generation industry
One of either solar or battery Asset Management experience required; both solar and battery experienced highly preferred
Expert knowledge in solar engineering technologies, systems, operations
Excellent financial management skills
Contract management of suppliers, O&M providers and stakeholders
Strategic thinker who can help develop asset management team
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
Work is performed in an office environment and in the field.
Must be able to sit, stand, bend, twist and lift up to 20 pounds.
