We are looking for our Vice President, Operational Excellence to help us meet production and quality goals. As the VP, Operational Excellence you’ll spearhead our journey towards world-class operational performance. This pivotal role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution, driving continuous improvement across our supply chain and manufacturing operations.

The Vice President, Operational Excellence is responsible for leading Operational Excellence initiatives at Trex Company. The candidates we are seeking must demonstrate strong strategic and technical leadership as well as industry leading vision to maintain and improve sustainability and optimization of Supply Chain as well as influencing closely working teams such as Engineering and Manufacturing departments.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

Lead development and implementation of the Trex Company’s Operating System, utilizing industry-proven methodologies across 7 pillars to drive sustainable continuous improvement.

Provide 3–5 year strategic direction for the Operational Excellence Team, setting goals and developing execution plans with clear milestones and metrics.

Facilitate Trex Company’s annual strategic planning process, aligning operational excellence initiatives with overall business objectives.

Manage the Manufacturing Engineering, Continuous Improvement, Program Management, and Safety Teams.

Lead with influence to implement solutions across business functions and teams.

Orchestrate impactful governance and change management processes, ensuring smooth transitions and sustained improvements.

Team Management and Development

Directly lead and mentor the Operational Excellence Team, including Directors of Safety, Continuous Improvement, Program Management, and Manufacturing Engineering.

Foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning within the team and across the organization.

Provide opportunities to develop and help generate new ideas to support the goals and visions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Lead change management initiatives, ensuring effective communication and adoption of new processes throughout the Supply Chain Organization.

Develop strategic partnerships with business stakeholders and resolve problems by collaborating with other closely related teams.

Communicate the Trex Company’s Operational strategies to investors, the board, management, staff, partners, customers, and stakeholders.

Create strong partnerships with business areas within Trex, such as peers in manufacturing, quality, R&D, supply planning, sourcing, and logistics.

Supply Chain

Lead development and implementation of the Trex Operating System.

Champion innovative working methods, guiding the Supply Chain Organization through transformative changes with clear, inspiring communication.

Set the strategy and lead the optimization of Trex’s Supply Chain (Plan, Source, Make Deliver) to drive sustainable continuous improvement in safety, quality, operating performance and gross margin expansion.

Operations

Manage budgets and develop Operating Plans to balance Operational Excellence resources with strategic objectives.

Drive change & transformations, working collaboratively with Supply Chain colleagues, cross-functional business leaders, as well as senior leaders to deliver actionable solutions to resolve complex challenges.

Lead budget management and the Operating Plan development to ensure Operational Excellence resources are well balanced to meet strategic objectives both internally and externally.

EXPERIENCE

A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field is required along with 15+ years' work experience in a manufacturing environment. A master’s degree and/or Six Sigma Belt Certification is preferred.
