The Director of Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) will oversee the development, implementation, and management of EHS programs to ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards. This role involves leading an EHS team, collaborating with various departments, and promoting a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across all company operations.Key Responsibilities:Develop and execute a comprehensive EHS strategy that aligns with company goals and industry best practices.Provide leadership and direction to the EHS team, ensuring effective implementation of safety and environmental programs.Serve as the primary point of contact for EHS matters with senior management, regulatory agencies, and external stakeholders.Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal EHS regulations and industry standards, including FDA, OSHA, and EPA requirements.Stay informed about changes in regulations and adjust company policies and procedures as needed.Prepare and submit required reports and documentation to regulatory agencies.Design and implement EHS policies, procedures, and training programs to minimize risks and enhance workplace safety.Develop and oversee environmental management systems, including waste management, water and energy conservation, and sustainability initiatives.Implement and maintain food safety programs in accordance with HACCP and other relevant standards.Lead investigations of safety incidents and environmental events, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.Track and analyze metrics to evaluate EHS program effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.Conduct EHS training sessions for employees at all levels, ensuring understanding and compliance with EHS policies and procedures.Foster a culture of safety through effective communication, employee engagement, and recognition programs.Conduct regular internal audits and inspections to assess compliance with EHS policies and regulations.Address audit findings promptly and implement corrective actions to ensure continuous improvement in EHS performance.Develop and manage the EHS budget, ensuring the effective allocation of resources for EHS programs and initiatives.Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements in EHS operations.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Food Science, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)) preferred.Minimum of 10 years of experience in EHS management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the food and beverage industry.In-depth knowledge of EHS regulations and industry standards, including FDA, OSHA, and EPA requirements.Proven track record of developing and implementing effective EHS programs and achieving regulatory compliance.Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.Experience managing budgets and resources effectively.Work Environment:Office-based with occasional travel to production facilities and other company sites.May require working in industrial environments with exposure to operational hazards.
