AMERICORPS Program Coordinator! Serve in a school and support students in achieving their reading goals!The AmeriCorps Program Coordinator is the face of Reading Partners in our elementary school partners, either in Seattle or Highline schools, responsible for leading the coordination, operations, and relationship development of Reading Partners’ one-on-one tutoring programs with community-based tutors. Volunteer Coordinators support hundreds of volunteers who dedicate their time to reading with students. AmeriCorps members serve full-time from October 16, 2024 through June 13, 2025 and must commit to serving full-time during this period.

AmeriCorps members understand this is a service opportunity, not a job, and are committed to completing their full term of service. Our students rely on this dedication.Program Coordinator Responsibilities

Lead the full-time coordination and operations of Reading Partners’ tutoring programs at one or more reading centers, which could be in a school, community center, or other partner site.Serve as the primary Reading Partners representative to school/partner site staff and administration.Coordinate the day-to-day operations and schedule of Reading Partners’ tutoring programs to ensure the program meets students’ learning needs.Facilitate, and provide, ongoing tutoring to students at one or multiple school/partner sites.Manage student and tutor data records through regular assessment and progress monitoring.Provide direct technical support to students and volunteers if using the Reading Partners’ online tutoring program.Forge and maintain positive relationships with students, families, tutors, and school staff to create a welcoming tutoring environment.Lead family, student, and volunteer engagement support within your reading center.Motivate students in their learning journeys and manage student behavior.Guide, coach, and provide feedback and ongoing support to volunteer tutors.As ambassadors for Reading Partners and AmeriCorps, our dedicated members play a pivotal role in fostering community engagement and awareness, actively sharing their impactful service experiences to inspire others and contribute to the collective narrative of positive change in literacy education. AmeriCorps members also commit to community service projects throughout their service term, such as, but not limited to, the MLK, Jr Day of Service.About You!

Eligibility:

Possess a high school diploma or GED.Hold US Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status.Be at least 18 years old at the beginning of your service.Have not completed more than four (4) terms with AmeriCorps.Qualifications:

Root your service in our vision & values.Pay strong attention to detail and manage competing priorities effectively.Are open to learning technology systems like Salesforce, Google Apps, and Zoom.Are able to both collaborate in a team environment and work independently.Bonus points if you are an AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, or other national service alum/alumna; and/or have experience volunteering with community-based or education programs.Benefits:

Reading Partners offers a supportive culture, intensive training at the start of your service, and ongoing professional development and coaching.AmeriCorps members receive a twice monthly paycheck of $1,263.64, totaling $20,218.24

over the 9-month service term.Segal Education Award of $5,176

after successfully completing your service term.Public transportation

reimbursement of $132/month for 11 months.CPR certification.Medical, dental, and vision coverage at no monthly cost to you.Child care assistance available through AmeriCorps for those who qualify.You may be eligible for student loan forbearance

on federal loans.Other Considerations:

AmeriCorps members must live within commuting distance and

have access to reliable transportation on a daily basis, including public transportation.Due to the changing nature of serving in public education, AmeriCorps members may be asked to transition to another Reading Partners AmeriCorps position in the same region.Reading Partners is a national literacy nonprofit that engages community volunteers and AmeriCorps service members to support elementary-aged students on their path toward reading proficiency.
