About this roleSummary:We are seeking a self-motivated Compliance professional to provide compliance support to the U.S. Wealth Advisory's retail SMA and managed models business, including Aperio Group, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of BlackRock, which works with financial advisors to personalize and tax optimize equity SMAs through direct indexing.The Compliance professional would be responsible for working with the head of SMA Compliance in supporting the compliance infrastructure of the SMA business, spanning both equity and fixed income strategies and models. The position would include responsibility for a broad range of issues across the SMA Solutions business, encompassing, among other things, cross-border licensing guidance for non-US clients, assisting with client onboarding processes and procedures, portfolio management and trading support, liaising with the broader legal and compliance teams in reviewing and monitoring a broad range of business functions, and conducting periodic testing of compliance with policies and procedures. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the ability to build, maintain and enhance a strong compliance framework and program while having a strong knowledge of applicable regulations. The ability to work collaboratively with the various business stakeholders and the broader legal and compliance teams is also a key requirement.Qualifications3 to 7+ years of financial services compliance with an asset management firm, investment adviser and/or broker-dealer.Ability to identify Compliance risks and propose mitigation solutions.Ability to work as part of a team and independently in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.Knowledge of the Investment Advisors Act of 1940 is required.Working knowledge of the Investment Company Act of 1940, the Securities Act of 1933 and the Securities Act of 1934 is preferred.Prior experience in Compliance, Operations, Contracting, Legal, Audit, or Risk Management roles is a plus.Experience working at a regulator

SEC, FINRA, NFA, CFTC) is a plus.Knowledge of advisory services

(e.g.,

SMAs), including the relevant regulatory regimes and compliance requirements.Excellent and demonstrable written and oral communication skills, including the ability to conduct training sessions and give presentations to groups of varying seniority.Ability to partner with, and provide guidance to, internal business units at various levels within the organization.Strong organizational and project management skills, and attention to detail.Four-year college degree required. JD, MBA) is preferred.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct periodic testing and compliance reviews in the SMA and Models businesses as needed.Working with Legal and Compliance personnel to maintain a database of legal guidance for non-US jurisdictions regarding cross-border licensing issues and providing guidance to business teams as needed.Assist with collecting information for Forms ADV and testing to ensure data is accurate, with timely submission for filing.Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and processes to address key regulatory, compliance and reputational risks areas for the SMA business.Support the regulatory engagement process, including working with internal compliance and business partners in responding to regulators as part of examinations and inquiries.Lead or participate in cross-departmental projects impacting Legal and Compliance and the business.Keep informed of regulatory changes, trends, and focus within the industry and assist with assessing impact to the firm.Providing periodic Compliance training to employees as needed.For California only, the salary range for this position is $125,000 - $173,500. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including health care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits.
