We make carbon science accessible and actionable with our end-to-end platform.OverviewThe Business Development Lead will play a critical role in growing the number of Carbon Direct Platform customers. Leveraging your experience in sustainability consulting and/or climate software partnerships, you will be responsible for identifying, qualifying, and closing new business opportunities. Your ability to showcase the value of Carbon Direct’s deep decarbonization expertise will be critical to your success in the role. You will develop a deep understanding of Carbon Direct's carbon accounting platform and related services to communicate the value proposition to customers effectively.

Responsibilities

Develop strong industry relationships with enterprise customers by providing decarbonization insights, including C-Suite stakeholders.

Based on your deep understanding of decarbonization pain points, develop an expertise-led approach to building a robust sales pipeline.

Conduct detailed needs assessments to understand client decarbonization challenges and pain points.

Deliver compelling product demonstrations highlighting Carbon Direct Platform's functionality and benefits.

Negotiate contract terms and close sales to meet or exceed company targets.

Stay up-to-date on industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging carbon management regulations/standards.

Lead the development of sales strategies, proposals, and other collateral in partnership with Marketing.

Develop and implement processes and procedures to streamline operations and improve efficiency.

Partner with our Science team to position Carbon Direct as a thought leader in carbon accounting by speaking at industry conferences, publishing articles, and engaging in media opportunities.

Work closely with Product, Marketing, and Customer Success teams to ensure alignment and support for sales initiatives and seamless client onboarding and retention.

Qualifications

Demonstrated experience in consulting or climate software partnerships, with a focus on sustainability, ESG, or related domains.

Strong understanding of greenhouse gas accounting, target-setting frameworks (e.g., SBTi), and net zero strategy.

Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets.

Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.

Ability to navigate and sell to a range of stakeholders, from sustainability managers to C-suite executives.

Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) tools and sales enablement technologies - Hubspot preferred.
