Irvine, CAJob Overview:A law firm is seeking a Commercial and Complex Litigation Associate Attorney with 4 years of experience handling the defense of wage and hour litigation, including class actions. The ideal candidate will have substantial knowledge of California and federal wage and hour laws, strong written and verbal communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to work independently on litigation matters. The role involves working closely with clients, preparing and responding to discovery, and managing all aspects of litigation, from depositions to motions.Key Responsibilities:Handle defense of wage and hour litigation, including class actions, with minimal supervision.Prepare and respond to written discovery in wage and hour cases, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.Develop and execute comprehensive discovery plans.Take depositions and prepare motions involving discovery issues.Draft and oppose motions for class certification in wage and hour matters.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of California and federal wage and hour laws, especially overtime and meal/rest period regulations.Effectively communicate and collaborate with clients, providing legal guidance and strategic advice on wage and hour litigation.Ensure thorough follow-through on all legal matters, maintaining professionalism in client interactions.Requirements:A minimum of 4 years of experience in wage and hour litigation, preferably with a focus on class actions.Proven experience preparing and responding to discovery in wage and hour cases.Deposition and motion experience, particularly involving discovery issues.Experience drafting opposition to motions for class certification.Familiarity with discovery plans and the ability to manage and execute them independently.Education and Certifications:Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.Member in good standing of the California State Bar.Skills:In-depth knowledge of California and federal wage and hour laws, including overtime and meal/rest periods.Strong legal writing skills, with experience drafting motions and opposing class certification in wage and hour cases.Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex legal issues clearly to clients and colleagues.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently with limited supervision while effectively managing multiple cases.Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.Strong client relationship skills, with the ability to interface professionally and competently with clients.Strong follow-through and project management abilities.
