Job DescriptionThe Director HR acts as a consultant and adviser to the Precoat Leadership Team in the effective management of their workforce. Areas of responsibility include the following: employee relations, labor relations, engagement, regulatory compliance, performance management, HR program administration (benefits, recognition, etc.), change leadership and talent management. The Director leads a team of field HR professionals in supporting the various plants and business segments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

Obtain a sound understanding of internal and external customers and business strategy / goals. Recommend new approaches to effect continual improvements in business objectives, productivity and increase HR value-add within the company.

Provide counsel, coaching and mentoring at the senior management level particularly in the areas of talent management, employee engagement and employee relations / communications. Provide managers with strategic direction regarding organizational structure and approaches to leverage staffing and talent needs.

Analyze trends at locations in turnover, hiring, promotions, separations, and grievances to determine action needed to adjust unfavorable trends. Brief management on potential problem areas and recommend and implement solutions as appropriate. Follow-up to ensure change takes hold.

Drive employee engagement through close partnership with staff and leadership. Monitor the "pulse" of employees to ensure a high level of employee engagement.

Ensure all appropriate statutory and regulatory compliance requirements related to labor and employment are met at the state and federal level. Be proactive in preparing for legislated regulatory changes. Manage solution in conjunction with legal, payroll, safety, IT and other departments as necessary.

Consult with managers and staff on employee relations issues, conduct investigations and make recommendations in response to management and staff concerns.

Evaluate the need for and develop, deliver and/or coordinate employee skill training to ensure that the workforce is capable of performing at an effective and efficient level.

Provide day to day hands on operational HR support in respect of all generalist HR activities while balancing HR strategic goals and long term roadmap.

Drive sustainable organizational change – both structural and cultural in a fast paced, dispersed environment. Develop quantitative means to measure change and report progress on a bi-annual basis.

Build strong relationships throughout the organization while establishing trust and credibility with various levels of leadership.

QualificationsEDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management or Psychology

Master’s degree a plus

HR Certification a plus

WORK EXPERIENCE

Minimum of five to ten years of experience in progressive Human Resources roles in a manufacturing environment.

Five+ years in a HR management role.

Experience with both union and non-union facilities is preferred.

TRAVEL

Up to 30% travel.
