Leads and manages all aspects of accounting and financial reporting, both USGAAP and local GAAP, for RGA Korea Branch. Provides leadership and oversight of accounting processes and financial reporting controls, including Sarbanes-Oxley compliance for areas of responsibility.Manage and provide leadership to the Finance Team. Lead and coach the team on work-related topics, professional and career development.Foster integration and teamwork by promoting collaboration, co-ordination, and teamwork across individuals, functions, business units and cultures.Responsibilities

Financial Reporting and OperationsProduce accurate, timely and relevant financial information with respect to the Branch’s operations including:

production of monthly and quarterly US GAAP financial reporting and management reporting for key stakeholdersproduction of expense management reports, identifying key variances to planned levels, key financial analyses in support of business planning and budgeting

Review financial results, identify financial accounting issues and provide the relevant results commentaries and explanationOwnership of day to day finance operations such management of accounts payable processes with the Finance teamEnsure adequate internal controls are in place within the Finance operations and processesMaintain accounting standards/practices and compliance procedures for the branch / business unit in accordance with statutory requirements in Korea and RGA accounting policies and proceduresStatutory ReportingLead the preparation and filing of all regulatory reporting (including tax reporting) in Korea on a timely basis and with high standard of qualityPreparation and filing of ad hoc regulatory reports to relevant authorities (when required) including collaboration with other functions within the Branch or RGAMonitor industry and regulatory developments pertaining to the finance function statutory compliance, educate peers and represent RGA’s interests within the industryFinancial Planning and AnalysisManage the overall budgeting and financial planning, and forecasting process for the Korean business unitPlay an active role in the financial planning process and lead the analysis function including the leading of various regular and ad hoc planning meetingsParticipate in business origination meetings where finance and accounting advice and support is relevantTreasury and InvestmentsMonitor and maintain an effective cash flow management within the RGA Korea BranchReview and monitor investment portfolio of the branch with internal investment manager & external fund manager (where applicable)Own the day to day relationships with Investment Manager and CustodianRisk, Audit and ComplianceAccountable for the maintenance of appropriate controls, taking into accounts the requirements of the US’s Sarbanes Oxley and other similar legislation (where relevant)Liaise with external auditors on statutory financial audit and regulatory review (if any) and tax returns computation of the BranchLiaise with internal auditors on regular financial and operational review of the business unitIn support of the Asia CFO and CRO, as well as CEO and COO of RGA Korea Branch to ensure that RGA has an appropriate risk management framework to facilitate compliance with Korean regulations and RGA policiesProjectsWork on ad hoc projects on new business initiatives or other projects, which require input on accounting standards and proceduresLead/Co-lead projects on new accounting standards or its enhancement (IFRS, USGAAP) applicable to the Korean business unit together with the relevant functions (namely Business Operation, Valuation, RGA Group project teams etc)Requirements

Education and ExperienceRequired:Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/FinanceCPA, FSA, or equivalent professional qualification10+ years of relevant experience in finance and accountingExperience in insurance/reinsurance industryExperience in tax reporting and regulations in KoreaExperience in leading a team of Finance staff and collaborating with actuaries in valuation / reserving functionsPreferred:Experience with USGAAP accountingUnderstanding of Sarbanes Oxley controls and requirementsSkills and AbilitiesRequired:Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPointAdvanced knowledge of accounting/finance and general ledger applications (such as PeopleSoft)Proven level of people management skills, demonstrating the ability to lead, mentor, and develop associates; including the ability to delegate key areas of responsibilityStrong oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well receivedDemonstrated interpersonal skills; ability to build professional relationships with various departments/stakeholders across a wide variety of operational, functional and technical disciplinesAbility to quickly adapt to new methods, work effectively under tight deadlinesAdvanced level of investigative, analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to appropriately balance priorities, deadlines, and deliverablesLanguage: English and Korean
