This senior management position serves in an executive capacity, reporting to the College President and providing strategic vision, executive leadership, and direction for the overall planning, operation, and evaluation of the College’s district-wide student services and financial aid functions within the broad context of the college's mission. The ideal candidate will excel in fostering strong partnerships with the public school system, academic departments, community organizations, and other stakeholders, creating a cohesive and supportive student environment.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's Degree required. Doctorate preferred.
Fifteen or more years of student services-related experience, including ten or more years of management/leadership experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Broad experience in the higher education community as a leader with a demonstrated knowledge and a strong record in all areas within Student Services and Financial Aid, including but not limited to, admissions/enrollment, registration, advisement, financial aid, orientation, career services, counseling, articulation, student success, accessibility resources, testing, and student disciplinary procedures.
Proven capacity to plan and implement complex, time-sensitive projects as well as broad strategic initiatives; experience in planning and directing programs for students; competent in technology and data systems.
Ability to communicate ideas and information clearly and effectively at all levels within the organization; to use sound judgment in decision-making and problem-solving; to think globally and strategically; and to analyze data.
Demonstrated ability to design and implement an enrollment management vision with desired outcomes, to include streamlined services, conversion philosophy, key performance indicators and evidence-based assessment measures.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for Student Services and Financial Aid that aligns with the college’s mission and goals, ensuring student success and retention across all campuses.
Student Success Initiatives: Lead the creation and execution of innovative programs and services that enhance student engagement, academic achievement, and overall student experience.
Budget Management: Oversee the budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources to support strategic priorities and compliance with financial regulations.
Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize data analytics to assess the effectiveness of student services programs, identify trends, and make informed decisions to improve service delivery and student outcomes.
Crisis Management: Develop and implement crisis intervention strategies, ensuring a prompt and appropriate response to student emergencies, behavioral issues, and other critical incidents.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all Student Services and Financial Aid operations comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as college policies and accreditation standards.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement best practices in student services, driving continuous improvement in service delivery, student satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
Leadership Development: Mentor and develop a high-performing team within Student Services and Financial Aid, fostering a culture of professional growth, accountability, and collaboration.
Essential Functions:
Provides senior leadership and focus to advance the college's mission as such relates to the district-wide Student Services and Financial Aid function, which includes the planning, analyzing, and administering multiple inter-related internal and external programs/projects for the college.
Serves as chief student services and financial aid officer for the college. Directs and administers the college's Student Services and Financial Aid programs, including ensuring compliance with the provisions of all applicable federal and state regulatory standards and adherence to district policies and procedures.
Works collaboratively with district and campus administration to ensure a college-wide perspective while working towards effectively attaining district goals and objectives concerning the development, implementation, and delivery of Student Services and Financial Aid programs and services.
Evaluate and formulate college policies and long-term programs that require a thorough analysis of comprehensive data, such as effectiveness evaluation, enrollment statistics, enrollment management, program administration, and resource allocation.
Develop metrics and tracking mechanisms to measure overall performance and recommend improvements.
Responsible for overall people management of the area, including recommendation of staffing, hiring, termination, and discipline, setting performance standards and evaluating staff, and staff development and training.
