Overview:Manager of Continuous Improvement is responsible for leading and managing the continuous improvement process for all areas of the plant. This person will build teams, develop CI plans and drive continuous improvement to include operations, maintenance, warehouse, materials planning and scheduling, and quality assurance. The goal of this person is to lead continuous improvement in all aspects of the facility by utilizing the tools, methodology, and processes of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:Plant Leadership Role:

Plans and executes a holistic CI program and formal TDC program for assigned plant(s).

Oversee all aspects of continuous improvement for the plant organization.

Develops annual CI plans for the plant(s), including QES.

Develops and implements training plans for the plants to promote growth and improvements to the CI process.

Delivers measurable cost savings, tangible quality/safety/environmental/sustainable improvements.

Standardizes measurement metrics including KPI’s, OEE, Maintenance, Sanitation, Warehouse, Supply Chain management, and other operational functions.

Supports development of capital plans and budgeting as needed to support CI.

Implements KPI’s, OEE, and other measurements across the plants.

Leads regularly scheduled CI meetings with plant leadership to review and track progress.

Trains & educates the plant team members on methodologies of CI to include TPM, STPD, 5S, OEE, Lean, SPC, RCA, 5M5W, etc.

Establishes and promotes 7 philosophies: “One-Team Spirit”, “Zero Defect/Loss Focused”, “STPD”, “Run to Standard”, “Total Employee Involvement”, “High Quality Consumer/Customer oriented” and “Stability before improvement” in the plant.

Assists plant CI teams in sustaining gains achieved with lean efforts and initiatives.

Provides training for production teams and culture change within the organization.

Supports plant management teams in identifying and implementing best practices.

Communicates and influences change in processes and methods.

Works with the leadership to establish recognition and celebration to promote CI involvement.

Actively pursues “best practices” to improve the plant operations.

Supports plants when problems are encountered and escalates the concern when appropriate.

Corporate Leadership Role:

Verifies cost saving activities and planning lists for feasibility of actual technology, operation and cost saving amount.

Improves a difference between cost saving and P&L to close gaps.

Supports plant CI teams to achieve the budgeted cost savings.

Develops a sustainable TDC improvement framework and program.

Develops cost analysis method in order to understand strong/weak cost areas while developing a strategy for TDC improvement.

Develops and standardizes performance indicators for the balance scorecard.

Facilitates, organizes, documents and reports TDC improvements to drive business strategy and process improvements.

Drives change and serves as a subject matter expert (SME) and provides leadership to drive and influence change.

Leads others in developing and implementing transformational projects that improve performance and profitability.

Teaches, demonstrates and coordinates STPD methodology, RCA with 5M5Y, and Kaizen approach and techniques such as Poka-Yoke, IE, OEE, etc. at the plants.

Diagnoses and evaluates performance (cost and production performance) challenges.

Creates measurable, and quantifiable process improvements with methods to sustain initiatives.

Engages and supports the teams as well as partners with functional groups across the organization.

Develops operational processes to drive change, identify risk, and resources to support strategic goals.

Works with functional and cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement, gathering data, analyzing and developing improvements, using statistical analyses and waste elimination techniques.

Ensures consistency of lean methods and application of approach and techniques.

Creates and drives cultural shift through engaging and empowering people.

Works with Supply Chain Leadership to develop key performance measurements and reporting.

Reports financial gains regularly to Supply Chain Leadership.

Supports other projects and performs duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related field from accredited school required.

Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing and lean work environment.

Strong interpersonal skills, with hands-on experience using continuous improvement methods and tools (LEAN, TPM, Six Sigma, TQM, Kaizen, etc.).

Proven effective analytical and conceptual skills.

Ability to identify and implement countermeasures to prevent recurrence of problems.

Demonstrated ability to motivate others and achieve results.

Strong work ethic and ability to work in groups and/or independently as required.

Ability to work in a dynamic, matrix, cross-functional organization.

Quality orientation and high attention to detail.

Ability to effectively communicate with management and personnel at all levels.

Ability to adapt and work in a fast paced work environment, while balancing and adjusting.

Possesses strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in Visio, Word, Excel, Access.

Ability to travel as needed in support of plants, approximately 40%.

Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, bend and move about the work environment, plants or offices.

May be exposed to loud industrial type environments commonly found at plants.

Varied temperatures from hot and humid to very cold.

Salary:$120,000 /yr + 20% annual bonus based on performance.
