Scion Executive Search is spearheading the search for the Chief Advancement and Communications Officer for a distinguished nonprofit leader in the social services sector. This role offers a unique opportunity to advance a mission dedicated to supporting individuals in need. Situated in the vibrant city of Pasadena, California, this full-time, onsite role is available immediately.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Advancement and Communications Officer (CACO) will be a pivotal member of the leadership team, actively influencing the agency's strategic direction. The CACO will be responsible for developing, leading, and implementing a robust communications and resource development strategy to forge new partnerships, enhance the organization's visibility, and bolster its financial resources.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborate strategically with the CEO to strengthen and support the cultivation and development of both prospective and existing donors, while optimizing revenue from fundraising activities.Develop and execute strategies for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding philanthropic support from individuals, corporations, foundations, and community partners.Oversee the development and implementation of strategies and infrastructure required to expand our budget through major gifts, grants, special events, and support from corporate and foundation partners.Manage communications, public relations, marketing, and social media for the organization, while collaborating internally to advance community initiatives.Collaborate closely with the Board of Directors and assist board members in taking a more active role in fundraising efforts.Play a pivotal role in shaping the organization's long-term plans, working directly with the CEO, Board of Directors, and key fundraising volunteers.Manage a department consisting of two communications staff and six development staff. Direct reports include the Associate Director of Development, Grant Writer, Major Gifts Officer, and Associate Director of Communications.Identify, cultivate, and secure major gifts to meet fundraising goals, while also enhancing the planned giving program to further support and expand programmatic initiatives.Work with staff to produce quarterly newsletters, annual reports, press releases, and event invitations.Partner with internal parties to secure publicity for the organization through diverse media outlets, including print, digital, and social platforms.Develop and manage the planning, execution, and implementation of all agency-related fundraising and donor relations events.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A minimum of six years of experience as a high-level development professional, with a proven track record of successfully leading both operating and capital fundraising efforts.3+ years of experience supervising other fundraising professionals.A genuine passion and a deep appreciation for the mission of the organization.Previous experience in initiating, developing, and managing fundraising and donor-related events.Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) or American Fundraising Professional (AFP) certification is preferred.Skilled in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), and Raisers Edge.A thorough understanding of the philanthropic community in Los Angeles County, with a specialized focus on the Pasadena area, is essential.Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.Over 10 years of experience in the relevant areas will be considered equivalent to a bachelor's degree.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

This full-time onsite position offers a competitive annual salary of $175,000. The comprehensive benefits package includes paid holidays, vacation time, and paid sick leave. The 403(b) plan features a 2% base contribution and a match up to 2% after one year, with a 4-year vesting schedule.
