Position OverviewThe UCSF Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated neuroanesthesiologist for the role of Division Chief for Neuroanesthesia. This leadership position requires a candidate with exceptional expertise in neuroanesthesia, strong leadership and administrative capabilities, and a commitment to advancing clinical care, research, and education in the field.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management:
Oversee personnel and schedules for the neuroanesthesia faculty (currently 15 members). Ensure high-quality, patient-centered, and evidence-based perioperative care.
Growth & Development:
Foster a culture of growth within the division by creating opportunities for research, education, and quality improvement. Develop and support faculty members' professional development.
Education:
Teach residents and medical students, and contribute to University service, faculty meetings, Grand Rounds, and M&M conferences.
Quality & Improvement:
Participate in quality assurance programs, quality improvement initiatives, and research projects aimed at advancing neuroanesthesia and improving patient care.
Collaboration:
Build and maintain collaborative relationships with neurosurgeons, neurointensivists, interventional neuro-radiologists, neurophysiologists, and other professional groups within UCSF and nationwide.
Professional Development:
Stay updated with advancements in neuroanesthesia and related fields through continuing education and professional development activities.
Required Qualifications
Medical Licensure:
Must possess a valid California Medical License by the time of hire.
Degree:
Must hold an MD, DO, or equivalent degree.
Training:
Must be neuroanesthesia fellowship trained or have equivalent advanced training and/or experience in neuroanesthesia beyond that of anesthesia residency training.
Leadership:
Demonstrated exceptional leadership, administrative, and organizational skills.
Academic Stature:
National stature in academic anesthesia.

Proven track record in delivering high-quality clinical care in neuroanesthesia.

The total negotiated salary for this position will include the base salary plus the negotiated component, determined at the time of offer.
