Qualifications

This role in the manufacturing operations team is responsible for leading a team of engineers based in the US, China, Taiwan, and Vietnam who support Field Quality, Factory Quality, Supplier Quality, and Reliability Engineering functions for eero’s hardware products.
This engineering leader supports the NPI development process, owning all hardware reliability testing and quality engineering deliverables. This leader owns the ongoing product quality of eero devices, continually monitoring quality assurance processes at more than 30 supplier locations and 2 tier one contract manufacturing facilities.
This engineering leader is the resident quality expert in electronics manufacturing processes, materials, and policies. This individual is obsessed with ensuring product specifications are met, maintained, and adhered to over time, product returns are low, and customer satisfaction is high.
This engineering leader manages a team of 18 hands-on engineers, with the majority of the team based at eero’s contract manufacturer and supplier factory locations. The Asia team currently includes product quality engineering, supplier quality engineering, and reliability engineering specialists. Engineering skillsets in mechanical engineering, materials science, electrical engineering, and RF engineering are required to manage this well-rounded team.
This team is empowered to quickly and effectively take action when non-conformances are identified. This person will develop and maintain a technical quality system requirements document and ensure that documented practices meet the true interpretation of the quality management system standards.
The US-based sustaining hardware and quality engineering team members are responsible for supporting field failure analysis and identifying opportunities to improve product design to enhance product quality. This leader should have the communication skillset required to provide executive-level updates around the potential impact, severity, and make recommendations for the resolution of critical quality issues. This leader must be able to work with legal teams to appropriately communicate the risks to the company of critical quality issues.
Key job responsibilities
Build a US and Asia-based team structure of managers and individual contributors that can evolve to support eero’s ongoing production locations and manufacturing processes over a 3-5 year timeframe
Continue to develop eero’s quality system to support product line expansion and growing international distribution
Demonstrate leadership in creating and implementing solutions to address challenges. Ability to roll up sleeves and dive into issues when required
Review and influence new product design with a forward-looking view to head off quality issues before they impact eero’s revenue or field product quality for millions of units in the field
Own eero’s qualification process to control the addition of new vendors' components to support ongoing cost improvement, supply continuity, and product quality initiatives
Implement processes to regularly audit contract manufacturers’ incoming material sampling plan and source inspection plan. Ensure the dimension, function, and cosmetic standards are adhered to uniformly
Own hardware product quality for eero’s networking products with a scope that covers but is not limited to manufacturing process, manufacturing test process, sub-supplier component quality, and distribution processes.
Ensure there is no degradation of hardware product quality over time in order to deliver a consistent experience over time to eero’s customers
Make technical design recommendations to eero’s engineering teams to drive continuous process improvement in response to real-time hardware field performance
Travel to Asia-based manufacturing locations 4-5 trips per year

Excellent written and oral communication skills; English, Mandarin, and Vietnamese a plus
The ability to present to executive leaders when sharing good or bad news
Experience working with senior leadership at Asia contract manufacturers and/or US distribution companies
Deep knowledge of Control plans, AQL Sampling plans, SOPs, SIPs (Standard inspection procedure)
Understand the implementation of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
Effectively utilize statistical process control, metrology, including measurement correlation, Cp/Cpk, Gauge R&R
Self-motivated, willing to work independently and travel frequently upon request
