The ideal candidate is an experienced engineer who is not only a strong team player but can also mentor colleagues. This is a hybrid role with the expectations of at least 3 days in the Boston office. The Embedded Firmware Engineer will have the opportunity to collaborate across teams while maintaining our embedded platform services. You will have a major impact on PFF’s embedded consumer products. This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Sr. Director, Software Engineering.What You'll Do:Develop the embedded firmware platform for current and next generation of PFF products for high throughput embedded processing.You will be responsible for applying solid software engineering design patterns and best practices needed to evolve and expand the core codebase to deliver new ideas and technical innovations into products that continue to delight our customers and set the satisfaction bar higherDesign, develop and refactor real-time software architectures and modular software componentsCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define, design, test and maintain embedded platform’s services.Mentor and coach colleagues to expand the effectiveness of those around you.Assure a high standard of quality in your own work and in the work of others on your team via good coding practices, process improvements, clean designs, smart testing and review practices.What You Bring:Bachelor Degree in CS, related or equivalent experience5+ years real-time embedded software engineering experience in a multi-threaded Linux environmentDeep Proficiency in C and C++ programming for a Linux runtime environmentExperience developing embedded devices with a RTOS such as FreeRTOS a plusSolid understanding about ARM specification, computer architecture, operating systemExperience in boot code, device drivers, CPU & SOC initializationAble to read and write scripts in common languages, Bash, Python, etcKnowledge of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi radio communication protocolsExperience with embedded peripherals such as Ethernet, I2C, I2S, SPI, and USBExcellent verbal and written communications skillsExperience in troubleshooting hardware using Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer.Proficient in the use of common source code control and defect tracking systems (Jira & Git)Strong ability to work within team structure, planning and deliverables. architectureWe like you just the way you are.Diversity fuels our innovation.
