Job Summary

The Field Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is an externally facing role with UroGen Pharma, Inc. responsible for 2-way scientific communication, support and collaboration with therapeutic experts, healthcare providers, researchers, disease-area advocates, and other organizations in the urology and urologic-oncology community.

Job Responsibilities

The MSL works across the complete product lifecycle continuum from Business Development through. The MSL will bring and establish peer-to-peer relationships, engaging in scientific exchange on research and clinical trends in Urology, Urologic oncology and UroGen therapeutic areas of interest.

The MSL contributes to and represents UroGen’s therapeutic strategy established by UroGen Medical Affairs and Clinical Development with brand alignment. The MSL works closely with other UroGen Departments and colleagues as appropriate within the field and at the corporate office locations in NYC and Israel. MSLs are involved with medical training for other field-based teams and medical content training for speakers.

The MSL is responsible for field-based clinical support to HCPs by responding to unsolicited medical information requests, including those from payers, participating in the identification and facilitation of novel clinical or scientific opportunities, and providing educational presentations.

The MSL will assist with clinical development programs by translating external insights to ensure real-world input into UroGen programs, and clinical value in study design, site selection and field support of company-sponsored trials. Additionally, the MSL will assist in developing a clinical trials strategy for investigator-initiated trials.

The individual in this role participates in regional symposia, medical advisory boards, and other national/regional medical meetings.

The MSL attends scientific conferences to gather and convey new scientific information useful to thought leaders, to the Company, and maintains value to UroGen with current scientific expertise. MSLs may also provide medical information in compliant settings within an exhibit booth.

The MSL also assists in developing and leading larger scale projects, and relevant initiatives, as well as leadership and mentoring activities for the team, as directed and proactively identified.

A successful MSL will strengthen the bond between UroGen and the disease area community by being informative to thought leaders with reliable, objective, clinical education, supportive of research endeavors, and receptive to feedback on therapeutic products, clinical trends, and research of interest, through peer-to-peer scientific exchange, and being able to translate this activity and information back into UroGen to align the Company externally.

List of qualifications:

Education / Experience

Doctoral degree in clinical specialty (M.D., Pharm.D., PhD.) with 5 or more years of experience following the last stage of training (internship, residency or fellow) including 3 or more years of experience in medical affairs/ MSL in the pharmaceutical industry. Experience in urology, oncology or related field.

Required Skills

Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.

Excellent and demonstrated interpersonal skills: ability to understand and respond to multiple external and internal customers’ demands, manage and handle conflict constructively.

Demonstrated clinical or scientific technical skills including experience working with clinical trials.

Solid understanding and adherence to SOPs/Rules/Regulations regarding internal/external UroGen/customer interactions and activities.

Manage a significant volume of projects developed in a field-based environment, while exhibiting the ability to prioritize, provide oversight and demonstrate excellent judgmental skills.

Work within the medical group and across multi-disciplinary teams to accomplish responsibilities and goals.

Ability to leverage and navigate internal departments key to accomplishing multi-faceted projects and duties.

Collaborate effectively and demonstrate leadership and teamwork with peers, internal stakeholders, and external customers that inspires alignment and partnership on a shared vision or strategy.

Be a self-starter, be accountable, and have a sense of urgency in delivering results that have impact.

Ability to travel including periods of up to 70% at which includes overnight travel; must have a valid, US Driver’s License and pass requirements for vehicle used for Company business.
