This role requires a solid foundation in software engineering with an emphasis on hands-on technical work. The ideal candidate will be involved in the development, deployment, and maintenance of applications that meet the needs of our scientific user base. Responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand user requirements, assisting in the design of scalable and efficient application architectures, and integrating data analytics tools to enhance application functionality.The role involves staying updated on current technological trends in application development and software engineering practices, ensuring that applications are reliable and meet evolving demands.The Software Engineer will also participate in code reviews, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure the security and performance of applications. The role encompasses the maintenance and support of existing applications, focusing on high availability, reliability, and optimal performance. The ideal candidate should have a demonstrated ability to work on application development and a strong interest in how data-driven applications can accelerate innovation. Strong communication skills, both technical and non-technical, are essential for liaising with stakeholders, including management, IT teams, and scientific personnel, to ensure that technology solutions align with business strategies and scientific objectives.Key responsibilities for the Application Engineer I include:

Contribute to the development, deployment, and maintenance of full-stack, data-driven, cloud applications that serve our scientific community.Develop, measure, and monitor key metrics for all applications and services and consistently seek to iterate on and improve them.Operate and support applications deployed in a production environment.Take loosely defined mock-ups and producing rapid MVPs through to production grade experiences.Work with product teams on product roadmaps and developing end user requirements.Why you?

Basic Qualifications:We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.2+ years of experience in front end technologies: JavaScript, Typescript, React.js, Angular.js or similar.2+ years of experience with at least one common web backend language: e.g., Python, Scala, Java, Javascript (Node.js) including toolchains for documentation, testing, and operations / observability.2+ years of experience with modern software development tools / ways of working (e.g. git/GitHub, DevOps tools, metrics / monitoring, ...)Preferred Qualifications:
