Valid Ohio certification/licensure
Bachelor’s degree

REPORTS TO:
Principal
JOB GOAL:
To take charge of the total drama program; oversee dramatic productions; coach students in drama production, direction, and fiscal responsibilities.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The play director/advisor will:
Produce and direct school plays – two per year, spring & fall.
Work with orchestra and/or choir directors and choreographer & accompanist, if needed.
Select plays for fall and spring presentations.
Coordinate scheduling of production with the principal and directors of the vocal & instrumental programs.
Handle auditions and rehearsals for all productions.
Maintain student involvement in the International Thespians and The Ohio Theatre Education Associations.
Oversee all aspects of student safety and behavior throughout the production process.
Promote the theatrical/performing arts program in the schools and the community at large.
Maintain and organize the theatre space during productions, specifically wardrobe, properties, and stage areas.
Work with the district treasurer in matters pertaining to the financial aspects of a production, specifically purchase orders and payment adhering to district fiscal policy.
ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
Excellent observation and communication skills.
May perform strenuous tasks, such as lifting, when working with students.
Assisting students with behavioral/management needs.
Frequent evening and/or weekend work.
