We are looking for a
Chief Scientific Officer
in 401 N Michigan Ave, Suite 1400, Chicago, IL 60611 USA. Your mission will be to:
Mérieux NutriSciences created a global Analytical Testing Services Hub to help local businesses drive sustainable and profitable growth on our microbiology, chemistry and molecular biology laboratories food laboratory testing activities, leveraging our entire network of technical know-how and anticipating the new trends and risks of the market.
Reporting directly to the Executive Committee, and managing a team of Global Senior Technical Directors and indirectly technical regional directors who work in close collaboration with a wide network of local technical experts, the Chief Scientific Officer runs the Analytical Hub and ensures the company is on the forefront of knowledge in science and technology:
Lead strategic technology and scientific market surveillance identifying new technical opportunities to invest on that answer the customers strategy and future challenges.
Build “trends & risks” recommendations for the Executive Committee and contribute to strategic and tactical innovative decisions making process for the company.
Implement and lead the most impactful analytical services development projects finding the appropriate internal resources (experts and budget) and maintaining a constant connection with our customers to test innovative solutions.
Provide technical support to local laboratories and business units, as well as to the GKA team to identify underlying needs and/or challenges of key customers.
Develop external partnerships with academia and regulatory bodies.
Participate in the assessment of potential acquisitions that could bring new technical solutions.
Ensure that the technical, human and budgetary resources of the company are allocated by executive committee.
Liaise with bioMérieux microbiology scientific committees and contacts, enabling the two organizations to develop new mutual innovative solutions.
Identify and develop strategy for novel & emerging testing methods, sampling approaches and software systems with an eye towards market expansion and profitability.
Collaborate with IT to evolve internal systems to accommodate traceability and sampling needs.
Cultivate Merieux NutriSciences to be the commercial lab of choice for investigation and rapid response for produce food safety events.
Represent Merieux NutriSciences in thought-leadership roles within industry trade and technical groups for produce food safety & quality.
Support Operations leadership to establish & implement new market opportunities with modular, regional or specialty laboratories.
Identify strategic opportunities to provide new or additional value for industry and Merieux NutriSciences.
YOUR PROFILE
Bachelor's degree in sciences, M.S. in microbiology/food science, ideally with a laboratory services background, or other related degree concentration, or equivalent directly-related experience.
Related experience & competency within the food processing, CPG and produce markets.
Experience with FSMA, GFSI and USDA & FDA regulations. Competency to communicate food safety & regulatory issues to aid customers and focus efforts to maximize opportunities across Merieux NutriSciences globally.
